The early eighties, how to define them? Punk had just dynamited rock's pretensions clearing the way for uninhibited originality. From this was born A Bigger Splash - though this record sadly gives no inkling whatsoever of the frenzy that these 3 pop musketeers would create in their regular gigs around London. Unfortunately the great Sting produced the spirit and life right out of this number, completely removing the guitar theme which sounded like a steel band in the live performances.

A live recording was made of this number from the Half Moon pub in Herne Hill with the songs "Straight Clothes" and "Awkward Age" on the B side. Perhaps one day I will try to upload them onto the web so that those beery, crowded but magical evenings can be conjured up once more.
