Reviews & Discussion

Very, very good. Music that ranges from really quite disturbing to really quite beautiful in the blink of an eye. My personal favourite is "Bucephalus bouncing Ball" - amazing sounds that are best listened to very loud.

If you have not heard "Come To Daddy" then after purchasing this release, go to your local video store and take out Joel Schumacher's "8mm" staring Nicolas Cage & Joaquin Phoenix. At the climax of the film Cage goes round to the baddie's house and has a rummage around his bedroom. Bearing in mind that the baddie is a snuff movie actor type of baddie it is interesting to note that he has "Come To Daddy" spinning on his deck in the corner of the room.

How i larfed!

Anyhow back to the music - sublime and scary in almost equal measure. I have the CD but based on posted comments I will be getting the vinyl.

RDJ comes to full maturity with this release. It can be recognized that he has reached a point of unlimited sonic flexibility. The first track is an absolute testament of his cheeky ability that borders on insanity. I've actually be told to turn off the cd player when that track was being played, the person complaining was very religious and put way too much meaning behind the song (of course they would). I then played track two, then they were confused.

What an amazing release indeed! It combines all sides of IDM. This EP is the best proof of Richard's talent.
Pappy Mix of "Come To Daddy" shows the sickest and maddest side of Aphex Twin. Something between death metal and noise - musical hell, electronic disaster!
My personal favourites are "Flim", "Bucefalus Bouncing Ball" and "Iz-Us". "Iz-Us" and "Flim" are very beautiful tracks! I always loved Aphex's ambient works. "Bucephalus Bouncing Ball" is a audacious experiment: I just can't describe how great the sounds and beats in this track are! Buy it, steal it, do whatever it takes to listen to this track!
Great EP! 5/5, as always.

Every track on this album is amazing. If you have ever heard and liked an Aphex Twin song (shame on you if you haven't,) just buy this album. This has every aspect of RDJ's music on it, and every song is classic. If you haven't heard this album you haven't really heard Aphex Twin, not to be elitist. His most solid release ever.
