Reviews & Discussion

Review by D_Oranger Dec 18, 2005 (edited over 3 years ago)
A very underrated Squarepusher release. It is actually my favorite album of his. Particularly as it contains some absolutely BRILLIANT acid tracks. Square Rave, Dedicated Loop, Schizm Track #1, Snake Pass, Acid Tape Track, Schizm Track #2, Ceephax Mix. I wish he'd pursued this acid avenue further. Dedicated Loop is one of my all time favorite Squarepusher tracks. But the standout is Schizm Track #2. A frickin rave STORMER that fades in with a dread synth line like the menace to civilized society it knows it is. I wish all rave music were this good. Plus, the breakdown is RIDICULOUSLY funky.

Oddly enough, Square Rave was used as the theme music for one season of MTV's Real World Road Rules Battle.

Whenever somebody mentions this record, they say the best trak is square rave or tomorrow world.

I don't get it, can't you handle the ultra-insanity of mind rubbers?? This is one of my favourite trax ever, it has everything you could ask for - a really heavy bassline, inconceivable beats, loads of head-f_ck noises and all at about 300,000 miles per hour!

I don't know if this is the most complex piece of music to be discharged from Tom Jenkinson's brain, but it must be a close second if it's not. Just remember one thing: PLAY IT LOUD!!!

after "hard normal daddy", "feed me wierd things", and just about everything he'd put out up to that point, this lp come off as profoundly anti-climatic_ the positive points
of this release included a few catchy melodies (especially in "tomarrow world") and an appearance of his brother andy
aka ceephax acid crew, for a rmx on the last track_
