User Reviews:

FLuViRuS, Dec 21, 2006

"Virgin Ubiquity", the compilation series of Roy Ayers' works, is a true testament to how the songs were ahead of their times. And now, remixed by a coterie of the finest remixers today, the album is magically transformed to suit progressive dancefloors all over the world. Whilst a wide variety of dance styles are explored here - House, Deep House, Disco, Drum n' Bass, Samba / Bossanova, Trip-Hop / Downtempo - the emphasis is definitely on House music. This makes perfect sense. Roy Ayers makes soulful jazz, and House is all about soul. This double-disc album - splendid as it may sound - has two shortcomings: 1. It is a tad overwhelming due to its consistency in style, and 2. Some of the remixes here are edited versions of the original. Nevertheless, it contains enough top-notch remixes to woo any decent collector of dance music. Touch Of Class, Mr Roy Ayers? Touché!
