The group were forced to change their name due to the outbreak of the Gulf War in 1991. They were briefly known as "Massive", and that's the name which is on the cover of this LP.

"Be Thankful For What You've Got" is a cover of the William DeVaughn song of the same name.

On track A1 "Safe from Harm", Massive Attack samples a Billy Cobham song released in 1973: "Stratus" from the album "Spectrum" on Atlantic.

in my eyes, another genre defining moment of '91. as the deep bass line from "safe from harm" begins the song, and the song is juggled from turntable to turntable, this was something totally different. a very unique album that sparked a new collective of dj's and musicians and how they worked.
