- Edited one year agoHard to explain how I love this track... Because it is one of my most beloved one of all-time. Not easy to talk about the girl of your life, right? It's exactly the same here.
There's a strong vibe of everlasting youth inside. A looped daydream. A perfect balance between the synthetic touch of electronic music and the dusty/dirty one of rock music. It's so impetuous and spirited... like a great flame proudly standing high for romance. It sounds like something you make when you are 20, slightly depressed and ashamed by everything around you. You more than ever feel the coldness and injustice in this world, and wonder what's your role here.
Also, the blurry, very lo-fi and "shoegaze" way to use his voice in this track adds something particularly charming. You can't understand what Jake is saying exactly, you have to guess, you have the impression that he is singing behind a thick door. This dusty aesthetics is really a winner to reach a high level of timelessness. Because the more the information received is fuzzy, dim and mysterious, the more imagination works hard and can develop its potential genius. The "Where do I belong?" sentence at the end of the track is the ice on the cake for this naive (yet essential) creation, which sounds like a perfect mirror of the 2000s : Fun, Grungy, Rock, Romantic.
