Such a fantastic example of what Woody McBride did best - dispensing with the nuance/subtlety of his contemporary musicians during those heady idm days and just BRINGING THE ACID with an energy like no other! While "Snake" could level an entire warehouse full of raving acid-heads back in 1993, it's difficult to appreciate while dancing on your living room carpet.
My recommendation is to fill the smallest room in your apt or house with speakers from floor to ceiling, close the door behind you, turn the volume up to 11 and play "Snake" till you drop from heat exhaustion. Ah, the memories.
Screaming machines indeed.
Shine is a long Rattlesnake-like hard-Acid fucker, Hardest Work is yet more penetrating, while Rain is a cooler trance track.
The major trouble with this release - and with a great deal of McBride's work - is its monotony: three tracks, three drum patterns. This makes it OK in a mix or as background music, but does not stand the careful listening test.
My recommendation is to fill the smallest room in your apt or house with speakers from floor to ceiling, close the door behind you, turn the volume up to 11 and play "Snake" till you drop from heat exhaustion. Ah, the memories.
