This is very different from the Ecophony/Akira Trilogy in that it doesn't have the driving synthesizers and percussion, but it has the very recognizeable Geinoh Yamashirogumi sound nonetheless. 'Africa Genjoh' studies much more deeply the human voice and its use in African folk styles from across the continent. I would say that not all people who enjoy the 'Akira' soundtrack will like this release, but certainly all people who enjoy Geinoh Yamashirogumi will.
