Arovane - Tides Review by BudeMuelle Jun 02, 2006 (edited over 3 years ago)

"Tides", in my opinion, is Uwe Zahns best release by far. Nine perfectly arranged melancholic tracks, with a nostalgic sound comparable to Boards of Canadas "Twoism" or Boom Bips "Seed to Sun". A must-have if you`re into this kind of music.

Words by fellow reviewers cannot be topped as this is quite an eloquent album of warm soundscapes.

I put this soothing album on my MP3, in-ear headphones & i'm a kip. Sounds of the Sea, warm, organic electronics & beautiful chords. Probably best listened to near a sun-drenched beach on a faraway island, but really is an essential listen wherever you are.
Not your average Arovane album. Better!

Arovane - Tides Review by casinovsjapan Jul 05, 2004 (edited over 5 years ago)

"Tides" is essential listening and my favorite Arovane release. As a whole, the album is perfectly balanced, taking on so many vivid images of warm and tranquil places. Christian's guitar flourishes adds an extra element of organic, emotive melody to an already rich composition. I read that this album was inspired by a trip Mr. Zahn took to the Mediterranean. What an amazing translation! "Tides" is perfect prologue to CCO's flawless legacy of promoting and releasing some of the best melodic electronic music in the world. RESPECT.

Arovane - Tides Review by scoundrel Feb 26, 2004

Tides is a lovely work, superior to Atol Scrap -- much deeper and warmer. From the harpsicord on the opening track, "Theme," you can tell that this album has been more thought out and more fully rendered. The electronics are more fully integrated, as are the beats. A excellent example of the potential and power of electronic music.

Arovane - Tides Review by charles_howarth Dec 03, 2002

A quite breathtaking album. This is quite a different affair from Arovane's output on the Din label - much more laid back and organic in mood and texture. Skillfuly used samples of sea-birds and children playing help to create a tranquility that compliments the guitar playing of label-colleague Christian Kleine perfectly. On a similar note to naitsabes above, when city life becomes too much, I put this on the car stereo and head out to a secluded spot in the countryside, and stop the car to absorb the haunting beauty of this album in an idyllic setting.

Arovane - Tides Review by naitsabes Nov 05, 2001 (edited over 8 years ago)

What a wonderful album. The title "tides" describes it pretty well, it's like stitting on the bank of a huge lake, watching the wind playing with the waters. Very beautiful composed with warm sound, but also lonely and yearning.
