After a warm debut with Inside Out on the LSD label, Kuba follows up, this time on Chillcode Music. Fans of Kuba will remember his warm baleric sound which we get here together with all the usual ingredients: ethnic vocals, dubby basslines, etc. Some of the tracks sound formulaic as My Snitchcomron. Where Through a Lense excels is when Laurence dabbles in experimental ambiance as on title track Through A Lense.
Credits go to Laurence for not bowing completely to market cheese yet creating something which in my opinion is very accessible to both the psy-chill and lounge listeners. On this release he delves a bit more deeper than the standard formulas and yet retains the Kuba sound with more mature production values. All said another strong release from Kuba and will please all those who liked his previous excursions and more.

Unfortunately, my favorite track, Drop the Pain, seems to be more of an uncredited remix of dZihan & Kamien's Drophere with MaDita's vocals replaced by acoustic guitar and some world music vocal samples. I'm surprised that no credit to the original track is given.
