It's nice to hear a song (the C2 remix) from this album that's more club orientated, but for me, the killer song on this record is the Villalobos remix. Reminiscent of Philip Glass, he plays with the same loop, repeating and repeating forcing the listener into a trance while he brings the melody in and out. The minimal beat remains throughout the song as he plays with organic sounds. When I got it, I played through the b-side five times without realising what I was doing. Genius track with three of the most important electronic producers in the last 10/15 years all contributing. Best record I've purchased all year.

I'm generally conflicted about Carl's music. When he makes club oriented tracks like this one, he cannot be stopped. Some of his more classic sounding soulful records I cannot get into. For this release, refined simplicity and years of production experience come through in a very raw, not trying to please anyone in particular type attitude.

In the heart of the track there exists very subtle high end percussion layers that bounce, trickle, and ride their way right into the base of your brain stem. The primary bassline is bananas when you really dig into it on some speakers but isn't so apparent when you sample it. Also, after ten or more listens it became apparent to me that there is another very subtle element that lurks in the mid section of this track. This mystery element makes it first appearance near the 2 minute mark and it seems to float in and out when it pleases. I'm not sure if it is an element unto itself of some type of auditory illusion that is created from the combination of other sounds. I'll do my best to describe it as a pulsing sci-fi warping middle bass. Its so intricate in its placement and so faintly audible that I can only imagine that Carl was behind the knobs carefully hand tuning and effecting this element during the production phase. This kind of insane attention to detail is what I love so much about this record. Looks wise, this release is a heavy, glossy, cleanly pressed vinyl. A classy presentation for an outstanding record.
