Human Blue - Electric Roundabout Review by Jikkenteki Sep 24, 2004 (edited over 5 years ago)
Electric Roundabout is one of those lovely albums that bends genres. Just when you think you have it figured out, something comes in and makes you change you mind.

The over all "vibe" of the album is in the minimal/progressive mold, yet at the same time it has all kinds of old school melodic layers that can make even the most jaded old school goa fans nod his head in approval, while never becoming anything like a "goa" album. Tracks like Memoexis, Calculated and Areostar, are very much "progressive numbers, yet they all have rather non-progressive melodic parts to them. Intercity, Dream Creator and Carpe Diem are still progressive, but have a strong melodic atmosphere that makes one think more of the old days than the progressive genre that is the "overall" genre of this album.

Cosmic Approach is another good number that almost reminds me of Vibrasphere and even has some acidy leads towards the end. Electric Roundabout finishes us off with an excellent tribal, groovy prog workout. Seeing how the psy-trance scene seems to be getting more and more divided these days, it is nice to have albums like Electric Roundabout that can please a wide range of people and reminds us that good music is good music, regardless of what label you put on it.
