Mathew Jonson - The Gemini EP Review by anType May 15, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
"The Gemini EP" is by far the best Mathew Jonson release I've heard. He totally outdid himself on this one. And saying this after listening to his amazing EPs like "Typerope", "She Is He" and "Behind The Mirror" must mean a lot!
The title track, "Gemini", is more layered compared to his previous works. It will definitely become a classic tune soon because it has all it takes to be a classic - beautifully crafted melody, punchy bassline and ethereal background pad. The tune that will surely get you jumping on the dancefloor.
Side B offers a more minimal, deep and chilled cut. "The Navigator & The Gateway" is a definite nod to "Typerope". What can seem a bit monotonous at first, is actually another genius minimal techno masterpiece. There's a lot of very subtle changes going on - once you learn to appreciate them all, you'll learn to love the tune.

Dare I say... "Gemini" might be Mathew's best track to date!!! One can only wonder if it'll be possible for him to do better than this. Seems like a VERY hard task...
