You reallu gotta be into this stuff or you'll have to pass this release of as 'too intelligent'. But I myself have no problem with it what so ever! Great record. A sort of chill-out glicks 'n cuts, but not really ambient or IDM...very on its own.
The record feels like the sound of the sea, when you close your eyes and lay back.
Neo is also a great label, check 'em out!
Can basically be summed up in one phrase: "mellow glitch". There's some nice movement of the mellow synths and bass notes here, but Xela has plenty of crackles and pops to agitate or please, whichever camp the listener may be from. The best tracks here are the "beatless" ones, which go for atmosphere over digitalia.
The first track has these really mellow and deep bass lines that go along to perfect glitchy drum patterns. The song is put together perfectly!
The second track has a loud snare hits but they are very short ones making it glitched with fast kicks and basic hat patterns.
My other favourite track on this is track 10.
This CD can be played over and over again, it's just that good.
