Ion Ludwig - Blood Source EP - 05-Sep-07 11:24 AM
This EP first hit my ears when RV played it for his first radio appearance on the BBC - and fit in perfectly with the surroundings. When listening to the two tracks on this record by themselves I was further blown away by the precise production and vision that Koos exhibited here. This in an amazing, forward-thinking piece of music from a very special, intricate part of the German electronic music master culture. A+
Jahcoozi - Reworks - 05-Sep-07 10:20 AM
Creative, sensual, dreamy and moody. Everything you could ever hope from a good electronic piece of dance music. Right for putting in the nitches of a set where you pull everyone from what they think they were otherwise doing and laying them down softly into modes of sensuality. First heard this actually on EP's Fabric 35 and found it and great way to jump right into the rest of his set. Greta big room plucks and tweaks here and a great variety in the composition of the tracks - both vocally and musically. Exceptional.
Kiki - Joko Tai - 05-Sep-07 10:11 AM
A rather simple but surprising piece of vinyl here. While the B side is rather tired and uninventive, Joko Tai on the A is a very perculiar and slow building piece of minimal lushness. Extremely simple musically, Kiki plays along very senseual layers and rhythms here. Seemingly ethnic chord lines and ephemeral synths, the rolling minimal bass thuds keeps the track well in line. It even lightens up to early morning classic house piano chords. Quite dreamy and in an age of an excess of minimal tracks, Joko Tai most certainly stands out. Very nice.
Ricardo Villalobos - Salvador - 06-May-07 02:31 PM
This CD completely changed my life. Completely. I was working in a radio station where we got it as as promo and as I listened throught the tracks I was completely blown away at what a creative and sensual sound designer he was. Deep and rich and mesmerizing. Unflug continue to be my favorite dance track of all time.. hands down. And he made it in '92! This is a must have for anyone who finds Villalobos remotely appealing. You should find him much much more than that though. Absolutely brilliant.
