Profile: music collector since around 1980. focussing on psychedelic music of every kind, weird & incredibly strange music, also collecting everything related to PSYCHIC TV. i also like intelligent techno and trance music, drum & bass, samba, classic 70s rock, space rock, progressive music, electronic music... well.. i simply like most music except for chart and airplay stuff. oh and metal also turns me off. i have about 10.000 records in my collection, that seems to be ever-growing.

for a dicography of PSYCHIC TV have a look at http://www.fopi.net which is a site that i built and that conmtains one of the webwide most comprehensive ptv-discographies, covering also all temple rec. releases and solo releases by fred giannelli.

i´m also in making music for some 20 years or so. all of my recordings are for free download at http://www.ponkoff-music.de - but take some time, there are 50 albums up there!

feel free to contact me for any reason, but don´t expect me to answer silly rubbish requests.

if yopu´re looking to swap records then please get in contact with me. my collection is really huge and i like to swap unwanted items for interesting new stuff.

Reviews & Discussion:

Fred Giannelli Apr 19, 2004
Fred is a brilliant techno producer and live act. His discography is far more comprehensive than listed in here, but not even he himself has a comprehensive release list of all his recordings. While his former band Psychic TV is said to have invented the term and the style "acid house" then this is Fred´s work. His releases do not seem to get boring or repeat themselves, also there´s a huge list of collaborations he´s done (r. hawtin, c. lekebusch, just to name a few). and - for me - the most important point of all: fred shows much humour, in real life as well as in his releases. a highlight surely was his release "R. U. Xperienced" as Careese & Sickmob, where he covered the Jimi Hendrix classic. The vocals were done by a little girl (one of the daughters of Genesis P-Orridge), and now imagine this girl voice singing: "Are you experienced? Have you ever been experienced? Well i am." - That´s what i meant with humour and thats what makes Fred so great.
Once more a release that is closely connected to Psychic TV. Chatterly & Schiessl were involved in some of the late PTV-Releases, and Fred Giannelli also was member of Psychic TV. Chatterly & Schiessl also released some records as "Yum Yum" on Sperm records.
PTV - For Charles Apr 19, 2004
Ever wondered, why the Telepathic releases are numbered "PSI 001", "PSI 002"... etc.? Solution is simple: turn the record around and the "PSI" will make a perfect "lsd". What a great way to declare the "acid" house style.

Fred Giannelli, founder of Telepathic label, must have had a pain after leaving Psychic TV in anger, where he was involved for a couple of years. So small wonder his first release on his own label is entitled "PTV painkiller".
