Flynn & Flora - Native Drums - 01-Dec-06 06:02 AM
A great album. The apparent simplicity of the tracks masks an underlying complexity, a hallmark of quality jungle production. This album is significant as it is an indicator of the then emergent Bristol sound - a jazzier style combined with hard drum patterns and huge basslines. Though the overall track line-up is strong, several tracks deserve special mention - "Bass Speaker" for its' old skool Hip Hop samples, "Revolution" which samples Martin Luther King, "Bizniz" for its' massive bassline and "Dream Of You (Rework) for its' dancefloor sensibility. Well worth acquiring, if you can find it!
Various - 1 In The Jungle - 22-Jul-06 09:25 AM
I've not found a track on this album that I don't like! This album seriously takes me back to the days of crouching over the stereo to edit out the news bulletin in the middle of the 1 in the Jungle shows - Truly an album of stand-out tracks, all at full length. Grab it if you can find it...
Blackstar (2) - Tribute To Haile Selassie I - 15-Jul-06 01:35 AM
Arguably Ragga Jungle's finest individual flower- sparse languid breaks, sound system basslines and vocals by some of Jamaica's best toasters. The stand out track is probably His Imperial Majesty with Top Cat on spitting form...
Various - Jungle Mania 94 - 16-May-04 10:45 AM
Seminal collection from the promoters of the Jungle Mania events (though released by Telstar). Definately worth grabbing if you come across a copy, particularly if you're fond of the Ragga style of Jungle prevalent at the time this was released.
Various - Drum & Bass Mania - 09-May-04 07:46 AM
This album should be prosecuted for false advertising! I dunno who told this bloke that d'n'b is speeded up techno, he really needs to get a new career possibly as a milkman!!
