Benjamin Diamond - In Your Arms (Remixes) - 22-Jan-06 04:36 AM
I'm really surprised this release hasn't gotten a higher rating. The original mix might not be too memorable, but the Joey Negro remix is pretty impressive. Actually it's one of the best Joey Negro productions I've ever heard. It's got all the ingredients for a great house track. An energetic beat, nice chords, funky guitar riffs and a mindblowing saxophone solo at the end. And because the production is of such a high quality, the vocals sound much more fresh and alive than in the original mix.
You can really hear Joey Negro did his best to make the most of this tune. If only all remixes were made with this kind of dedication.
Xela - Tangled Wool - 19-Mar-05 03:15 AM
Sometimes there are albums that you can listen to over and over again without getting bored and discovering a new thrill every second time. Tangled Wool is such an album. Beautiful, light but at the same time dramatic guitar driven tracks with a hint of electronics. Only dissapointing thing is the duration. 40 minutes seem to fly by if you're caught up in a dream...
Mayhem (20) - Blue Notez / Nasty Funk - 27-Feb-05 04:05 PM
If it was possible i would give this release 6 point, because this is probably the best jazzy dnb tune ever. Blue Notez is a jazzy guitar driven drum & bass roller that seems to evolve to a higher level with each second the track enrolls further, letting is sound like a kind of massive improv jam session. Halfway the track a nice female vocal joins the rhythm of the guitar, making the funk complete. Nasty Funk on the B-side is equally stunning, but going for a more deeper approach combining a normal bassguitar with a garage bass over some Jazzy beats.
Future Prophecies - Reflecting Terror / Illusion Of Time - 01-Apr-04 12:17 AM
I'm beginning to feel "Future Prophecies" more and more lately. It seems to me that they're production skills improved a lot. Their last EP on Moving Shadow als caught my attention. Reflecting Terror is a dark amen track, which has the same sample as an old Ruffneck track called "Amman" (could be wrong though). Nice, but actually it's all about the B side. "Illusions Of Time" is a beautiful track with a male vocal, a razor sharp bassline and some light but stabby beats. Easily one of the best tracks this year.
CZR - Release - 28-Dec-03 01:08 PM
I think the original kicks the shit out of the Joey Beltram Remix. I actually don't think much of that remix. CZR however delivers a funky groove over some nice uplifting & sharp beats. Definitely not your average "light" disco track if you ask me, but a straight up though club track.
