Pulsedriver vs. Stormchaser - Back To Love - 08-Sep-08 10:50 PM
I was anxious for this release after hearing the "Impulse Drive Edit" on Dream Dance 45. The track is comparable to 'Aly & Fila - How Long'. Trance on the harder end of things with a male vocal and even similar lyrical content. (Although I'd say 'Back to Love' borders on euro while 'How Long' does not.)

Ironically label-owner Pulsedriver, who has faithfully demonstrated commitment to "hands up" hard trance and has been a cornerstone of that scene for the last 10 years or so, shamelessly turns in Dash Berlin style remixes here on the single, club, and dub mixes. A far cry from what you'd expect from Mr. Aqualoop himself. This is to me an embarrassment and it must be demoralizing to everyone at Aqualoop. I don't know what the radio mix is about; it seems to have no relevance to this release. Ole van Dansk, who produced 'Shining Star'--one of my all time favorites, has turned in a generic Deadmau5 rip-off under his name reduced to an acronym. Dave202's contribution (co-remixed by Sean Tyas and another producer I'm not familiar with) isn't bad, but it's nothing we haven't heard before. Finally the same edit from Dream Dance 45 is included which makes no sense whatsoever.

I don't know what frustrates me more: The full length Impulse Drive remix not being included or seeing more established producers selling out to the Deadmau5 gimmick machine.
