Greg Packer / Drumsound & Simon Bassline Smith* - Feelin' / Planet Saturn - 06-Feb-07 09:58 AM
Planet Saturn is an absolute classic Good Looking record. It has everything you would expect from a release on this label in all the right amounts and in all the right places. When I heard this for the first time it triggered memories of Intenses Positive Notions and the Good Looking glory days - tuneful and uplifting without being remotely cheesy. If I play a DnB set anywhere, bar, club, whatever, this track is in the bag. Respect!
Die & Clipz - Good Old Days / Black Doves - 20-May-06 05:08 AM
At last! Its about time the Full Cycle camp started releasing tracks with a nod to their older style, "Good Ol Days" is just that and none the worse for it either; simple pitching bass, tight sparse drum programming, strange jazzy samples and effective sound effects. I really could not wait to get my hands on this very, very dancefloor 12". Cmon guys, more of the same.
Everything But The Girl - Blame - 24-Apr-06 12:37 AM
This double pack was worth picking up for the J. Majik remix alone (to be honest the other three tracks are a bit weak). Mental vocal wranglings going on, with an awesome twisted bassline sounding like Optical on production. Pretty much an unknown release; lots of people straining to read the label every time Ive played this out. Very dancefloor orientated stuff from the Majik only begging the question "what went wrong?". The last good track he produced IMO.
Dillinja - Deadly Deep Subs / Calculus Beats - 22-Apr-06 08:53 AM
You could forgive somebody for thinking this was an official remix of Reeses Just Another Chance; The bassline, eerie string, vocal and synth riff samples are all used to great effect and appear hardly modulated at all, simply edited to create a different vibe. One of the better examples of what Dillinja was doing before he discovered valves, and if I recall, this is the track which made me sit up and take notice of a very talented man.
Wax Doctor - A New Direction E.P. - 05-Apr-06 09:17 PM
A truly classic release with three very strong tracks and although released as a hardcore record at the time, the B side is a strictly techno affair. Both Herbal Tekno & Protoplasm sound heavily Detroit & Belgium influenced, similar to productions by artists like Suburban Knight and Frank De Wulf.
Has been re-pressed but without Protoplasm which is a shame because its probably the best track on this timeless EP. The start of an interesting and varied music making career.
