Psycholoop - Karahana - 23-Jan-07 12:52 AM
Basically this release could be labeled as an album instead of a compilation, as almost all tracks feature Psycholoop, except for track 4. Psycholoop are Osher Swissa, Avi Elmaliah and Mishel Atias. All three of them had a solo-project going on during the late nineties. Osher was known as Ananda, Avi as Sphinx and Mishel as Kaylosh.

Overall, this is a pleasant CD. Most of the tracks here are loaded with lots of gimmicks including weird laughing voices and a bizarre sample concerning dolphins...you know, Nitzho-style! Moreover, the melodies are pretty unconventional. Happy Eater has a fat, shroomy and almost organic sound. Tracks 6 gives me a very spacey feeling and Sun Of Light, which also features Elliptical is very etheric. Too bad this guy didn't release more music, he definetely had some talent.

One of the better Nitzhonot CD's from 1998, although it might take you some time to enjoy (that is, in case you believe Nitz can be enjoyable).

Illusion Shankara & Hidden Trip - Bom Shiva - 19-Jan-07 03:33 PM
Another forgotten CD among the hundred of other releases in the Nitzhonot genre. This one stands out because of its particular usage of melodies. Unlike most albums & compilations from that time, you will find few Eastern influences on Bom Shiva. Most tracks here are heavily leaning towards the Epic Trance & Uplifting scene that would arise in Greece some years later. However, this album stays easy to classify as Nitz because of the zappy kicks which are not to be found in any other genre I know...

A few words about the music itself, then. Is it worth the chase & buy on Ebay? I consider it as a mediocre release with tracks 4 and 8 standing above the others. Illusion Shankara has better ideas and gets less annoying after a few listenings. "Shankar" for example is filled with great fluent melodies and a stunning kick that pounds every single bit of adrenaline out of your body. Idan Amsalem on the other hand doesn't sound very innovative. His track "Jungle Crade" uses the same 5 notes over and over again...

I'd give it a 6,5/10. Worth the search, in my eyes.

Various - Janana 3 - 14-Dec-06 11:26 PM
Whereas Janana 1 was a compilation filled with damn good Nitzhonot tracks from quality artists like Goldenfinger, Astrix and Zootrax, Typhoon Records didn't manage to reach the same level again.
The second Janana was still an average release with more big names, but for Janana 3 the record company filled two CD's with their local Nitzhonot "talents" that seem to reappear on every other compilation they released during the late nineties. Most of the tracks are very uncreative, using samples from cartoons or remixing more popular songs from other scenes.
This must have been one of the last (and the only double) compilation from Typhoon records, as it was released in 2000. I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy this CD or you should be a collector like I am. I guess the fourth and fifth Janana, which I don't possess, are probably even more awful...
