The comments I submit are meant to give some extra attention for releases that somehow stands out, deserves to be checked or that I feel is so good that leaving the rating 5/5 isn't good enough. Also want to apologize for my sometime caveman English! ; )

Been around since the first version of Discogs and with each update new rules how to submit a release have been applied, therefor some of my older submissions might seem incorrect compared to todays standard. Have been using Discogs longer then my profile states, don't know why the date is incorrect, possible it happened when the second version came into action. Also have to admit that YEARS ago I submitted a lot of stuff from another collector sites especially for the labels West End, Bottom Line & Salsoul which isn't a good thing to do but you have to understand when Discogs was VERY small and there was so much releases missing in the database that the site wasn't really functional. It was important to fill the label catalogs to make more people use Discogs and that way giving it a snowball effect (which really worked). This was accepted at the time, no one could ever imagine how successful and huge Discogs would become! The first version wasn't very user friendly, submissions could be pending for six months mostly because there was (If I remember right) only ONE Editor and Moderator. Today people have forgotten who really build this site, guys like DJ Insomnia, Moogman and Walli. I was the one who demanded that people had to leave Producer credits, not just in notes and since my fellow Moderators didn't agree with that I actually got fired as a Mod, later I was asked to join again. Also fought for YEARS that Soul and Funk would be accepted in Discogs. It has been a long journey but now it's working well and definitely hundred times better then just a few years ago. The system just gets better and better it's going to be excellent, close to perfect! There is a reason why the old "first rule" of Discogs "Relax, Discogs is never going to be perfect" have been removed.

Respect to the core Moderators & Editors of Discogs, don't you ever sleep?

LNR - Work It To The Bone - 20-Jun-06 02:07 AM
Another favorite, the forgotten but excellent "It's A Mystery To Me". For me the better track on this 12", I would call it Techno because it reminds me of early Transmat stuff, very hot and deserves your attention! "Work It To The Bone" is an obvious classic. Be aware that there is a low whirring fast reading tape sound/fx in the background, just in one speaker that I find really annoying. Intentional or not sadly all HJA-8803 got it, but not the 1994 HJA-9435 reissue. I can recommend the Profile release since it's a very loud press and got some nice remixes included and there is no irritating noise but this "House Jam Records" release is still worth hunting down for the lovely "It's A Mystery To Me".

Kerri Chandler - 24-May-06 12:34 AM
Just have to show my respect to such an amazing artist by leaving a comment. Been collecting his releases for years and now only one is missing. Kerri been around for a long time and always created high quality music. He choose to stay underground from day one, staying true to the real sound of House music, never turning mainstream. Produced many timeless classics like "Inspiration", "Hallelujah" and "Atmosphere" but if you dig deeper you find that he have recorded an endless amount of masterpieces. He is one of the few artist that have a trademark signature sound that can be recognized straight away. His instrumentals/dubs are my favorites - tight bumpy beats, fat basslines and killer chords. Usually creating a wonderful raw old-school vibe, true underground Deephouse. Hi is a excellent DJ, heard him spinn many times, his energy and charisma always leaves people asking for more. I'm so grateful that he keeps on doing his own thing although time are hard in the record business and especially for the artist keeping it real. "A legend, an icon, a inspiration, a key figure and a true House music purveyor".

Bar-Kays - Do It (Let Me See You Shake) - 02-Apr-06 03:57 PM
Had this record in my collection for a long time but somehow I remembered that it was a very weak release so I never listen to it. Was gonna sell it so I listen to it and BOOOOOM suddenly my sleepy tired Monday evening turned into a Saturday night party! Absolutely crazy funky that just make you bounce, very similar to the best stuff from Prince. Excellent example that simplicity really works, it's all about the groove and having a good party. If you like Prince, check this one out - highly recommended!

Gene Chandler - I'll Make The Living If You Make The Loving Worthwhile - 31-Mar-06 08:01 AM
"I'll Make The Living If You Make The Loving Worthwhile" is another timeless Soul/Disco bomb that deserves much more attention so start hunting it down. Containing all the elements of a hit, tight production and arrangments, melody with an huge hook and great lyrics (Although as always about love). The song got a WARM uplifting sing-a-long vibe, very peaktime and catchy. Maybe more for the soulful people since the tempo is around 100 BPM. More then a recommendation, it's an order - get it!

High Fashion - Feelin' Lucky - 11-Mar-06 05:00 AM
Warm soulful Boogie/Modern Soul that makes you wanna dance. Why? Because everything is damn tight, the production, arrangements and melodies creates a very uplifting vibe, timeless! Think the best 80's stuff that came from Luther Vandross, Keni Burke, Marc Sadane, The Jones Girls, Rene & Angela and you get a pretty good idea of the style. Great LP, each song being a winner but "You're The Winner", "Hold On" and "Next To You" are the strongest cuts, also the slower "I Want To Be Your Everything" caught my attention. Super strong album - Highly recommended!
