D. Kay - Beat The Machines / Give It 2 You - 26-Jun-06 01:53 PM
Great release by D.Kay here. 'Beat The Machines' shows the harder-edged, ravey side of his productions work, and 'Give It 2 You' shows the softer, deeper side. Quality tunes from one of my favorite producers.
Various - John B Presents Brainstorm - 26-Jun-06 12:20 PM
John B's take on Drum & Bass may not be to everyone's taste, but when you hear music like this, you can't help but smile. By adding in elements of trance, electro and new wave means that the material on this mix covers much terrain, and is definitely not the same old thing. Songs like 'American Girls', 'Falling' and '5 Times In One Night' are my picks of the bunch, but they're all top quality. What else would you expect from John B?
DJ Sage* - Drum & Bass Elements 01 - 24-Jun-06 04:29 AM
It's really a shame that there will never be a 'Drum & Bass Elements 02' since Moonshine Music closed its doors, because this sets such a high standard for D mixes. Sage does a great job of blending America's upcoming talent with some of the UK's biggest hitters. She really picked an eclectic selection, but all the tracks work very well together. The 2 unmixed tracks at the end are great, too.
Goldie - Goldie.co.uk A Drum & Bass DJ Mix - 24-Jun-06 04:29 AM
To me, this mix reminds me of everything that was good about Drum & Bass when I was first getting in deep. It does a good job of covering a wide variety of styles, but keeps it dark and eerie like you expect Goldie to. Tracks like 'Obsession', 'Universe', 'Lose Control', and 'Fade 2 Black' are all classics, and to put the icing on the cake, it ends things on the right note with 'Twisted' and 'Beachdrifta'. 'Twisted' has to be one of the filthiest tracks to come from the Dread camp, while 'Beachdrifta' is one of the most beautiful tracks Goldie's ever produced, except maybe 'Sea Of Tears'. Stunning.

Submerged - Corrupt Souls - 29-May-06 05:16 AM
This record does a great job of conveying emotion even though the production is so clinical and tight. These songs are dark and heavy, but they're really sad, too. Really makes you feel like you're trapped in Hell, or at least purgatory! It's too bad that most dark drum & bass can't have a little intelligence like this release.
