Reviews & Discussion:
We played this entire record out for my radio show and never before did we get such a dissapointed response. The only track that is great is 'Darkroom', an old Picotto tune kept away from pressing for years until now. The other tracks are more minimal techno in natural, showing Picotto's continuously shifting production style. The Liebing remix is pounding, but hardly interesting and certainly not worth playing as any sort of big tune. A definite let down for me.
This record is AMAZING. I liked it so much i emailed Kash and told him how great it was. He emailed me back 'thanks'!
I play techno, but this is so well made it fits in, even though all 3 tracks are funky house. Title track is definately the best, but all 3 are playable and excellent. Tribal sounding, catchy bass, and a great sax line makes 'Tropical Sax' THE Funky House track of 2004. The others have a similar structure, with some cool samples, including one from the moonlanding. Buy this record, i swear you wont regret it.
Astral Projection vs. Trilithon Feat. Special K (3) - Burning Up

This is one fo the first Astral Projection tracks to be released, and is high energy epic trance, unlike most of their productions which happen to fall into the psy/goa trance genre.
This track is well mastered, well layered, and without a doubt one of the greatest trance tracks of all time. I have never heard a single bad thing said about it, and girls love to dance to this track. If not for it's ultra rarity this could have become a major trance track when it came out. Instead it was nearly lost to us, if not for it's digital distribution by Astral Projection on the old MP3.com.
When I last talked to Oliver, he said he was focusing more on Tribal and Latin sounding Techno. It came as such a surprise to me to hear this record, which is a blend between House and funky Techno, and a far cry from most of his other productions. Still an excellent party record, particularly 'Yeah'.
A classic Happy hardcore tune, updated and made more euro-trance. The remixes are all still pounding and the vocals are pretty much kept intact. Really good in the middle of the night when everyone is just gone on drugs, or as a memory song for those around in '95 who are still in the scene.
Of course, those people would truly be the forever young. :)
Top tech tune from these Belgian producers, it was embraced by many including tomcraft in his mayday 2001 set.
Its hard techno, with reving bass locked in a fast paced pattern, with intermittent builds, filter effects and finally a female voice simulating dirty sex talk. Each build ends in a filtered explosion, and the song is mixed much like a funky house track with portions with lowered volume. Good for all styles.
Massive trance anthem from Johan and Sven. Original has a piano melody and is slower and more melodic, while the Svenson remix has the huge trance piano sound we love. It takes you on a rapid ride to wonderland with the airscape bass and light percussion then builds up to the dutch synth horns like a celebration is happening. You cant help but celebrate!
Classic Progressive trance track with plays by big djs every year since its release. With 4 good remixes to rely on, this track will not be played out for a while. The tune relies on a good prog beat and dance sounds by each mixer, and then it's tried and tested melody and vocals which is overlayed on all 4 of the mixes. | ||||
