Profile: It is a lonely and dangerous way - a thin tightrope with happiness on one side and misery on the other. It grows impatient whilst I grow fearful of being consumed by the construct of a reality that I helped design. This much I know... Mara has mastered the art of misdirection and takes great pleasure in confusing and misleading those who refuse to accept the nature of things as we know it. Those who challenge his beliefs have surely tasted defeat in battle as have I, but I teach myself to recognise his mark and find solace in the knowledge that with a fair amount of effort, I will inevitably win the war.

Boards Of Canada - 19-Mar-04 03:19 AM
I don't think that anyone in this thread feels that Boards of Canada were beamed down from heaven to save us, but I can understand the deep familiarity that people have with their music. People can't help but identify with their nostalgic melodies...

Like so many have mentioned before, Boards of Canada's music creates and conjours up strong images of childhood, of merry-go-rounds, of rainy winters, of peaceful autumn meadows, of beams of light piercing through floating clouds. There is no denying their musical genius, not many can claim to envoke the same sorts of emotion through sound. However, some of us do strive to achieve a similar goal.

Their music is truly unique... and I'm quite ashamed to admit it, but at certain moments in nearly all of their tracks, there is such a mixture of happiness and melancholy, I don't know whether to smile benevolently or let the moisture from my eye break free and fall to my cheek.

Like some say 'It's only music', but i'd like to admit that there may be something more to it... are we more than just the sum of our own parts... I'd like to think it's possible.

Titonton Duvanté - 16-May-03 03:05 AM
Titonton Duvanté is one of the most impressive composers of eclectically fused beats and melodies this side of planet funky ass. His sounds invoke new perspectives into the creational intent and potential power of music itself and force us to believe that the human spirit is not only alive, but thriving. Not only is he an accomplished producer but also an extremely technical turntabalist (one of the best I have ever seen), cutting up phat beats like candy treats. Titonton is electronic music’s best-kept secrets and to discover this untapped resource of musical talent is to redefine the meaning of excellence.

Secret Squirrel - Mu-Venom / DDT - 15-May-03 05:43 AM
This Hardcore Breakbeat 12" classic is one of the greats, with known samples such as 'Open your mind', 'Me and Satin walk side by side for a long time', 'We share the same thoughts' and 'I think I need a sound check'. For those who appreciate the really dark and creepy beats in life, I highly recommend.
