Diutesc - What Have You Done? - 02-Oct-07 03:06 PM
Great rhythmic power electronics from the former Genocide Organ frontman. "Who Killed Jesus?" may even be better than most Genocide Organ tracks!
The following is a translation of the runes printed on the insert:
"What have you done?
Who killed Jesus?

Notice: Your knowledge is controlled, they let you only what they want to. By a secret world government? Who are the Bilderberger? Is the world hollow? Did extraterrestrial beings exist? Read Israel Shahak: Jewish religion, Jewish History! And Heskiel Ezekiel in the bible!"

First off, I want to start by saying that I love comps like this. Comps based around a venue are almost always great (another excellent example being the Emma comp from 1986). Secondly, how can you go wrong with this thing? You've got 2 LPs and a 7" of well known acts (Spk, Chris & Cosey, Neubauten, etc.), and cult favorites (Zero Kama, Club Moral, Non Toxique Lost, p16d4, Der Plan, etc.).
A few points of notice:
The Spk track is great. It seems to have been recorded around the same time as Zamia Lehmanni as it is in the style of that record.
The Michel Banabila track is a very nice surprise. I had never heard him before this comp. Great ambient track with an eastern flair.
The live Neubauten track is top notch. As far as I know, the song is only available on this comp.
As for the rare vinyl appearance by Club Moral, it is somewhat dissapointing. One can be certain, however, that Danny Devos was doing something horrible to his body while recording this.
With regards to the Zero Kama track though, it may be their very best song! As some of you may know, they attempted to do an audio version of Crowley's Book of the Law. This track is all that ever surfaced from that project. It's very different from everything else that they ever recorded.
The are also standout tracks are from: Z'ev, Der Plan, Non Toxique Lost, Test Dept., and The Legendary Pink Dots.
Sure, there's some filler, but it's tolerable.
All in all, a great comp.
Various - The Last Supper - 22-Sep-07 12:08 PM
On this tape it is business as usual, and you have a lot of the usual suspects (Bourbonese Qualk, Attrition, Test Dept, etc.). However, there a few things to take note of. First off, the Gorilla Aktiv tracks are great. Sounds like a lo-fi version of early DAF (Think the Kebabtraume single on Mute). Secondly, there are some very early Muslimgauze tracks on here. Plus, The SPK live tracks are very good quality.
As a bonus, the booklet contains an interview with SPK where Graeme talks about banging on metal being done to death, and he speaks fondly of the new direction that he is going to take SPK in. heh.
All in all, not essential, but if you find it cheap pick it up.

Vomit Fall - Bastard Breed, We Don't Need! / The Mirror Of Our Society - 25-Oct-05 02:34 PM
Agathocles playing D-beat instead of their usual "mince-core" sound. The song writing is better than usual too. As far as I know, this is the only record that they have done in this style.
Raw Power (2) - After Your Brain - 24-May-05 03:35 PM
Has more of a crossover feel than their earlier work. While the metal leads and punk riffs were (in my humble opinion) perfectly blended on the previous album (Screams from the Gutter), this album comes off as a little bit boring. Thankfully they didn't get nearly as bad as some of the other italian hc bands from their era did (like Negazione for example). Don't get me wrong, this isn't a horrible record, it just pales in comparison to their previous acts of brilliance.
