Humble Bee, The - A Miscellany For The Quiet Hours - 21-Feb-09 08:11 AM
Great album. Elements of classic late 90s early 00s electronica (think pole etc.) meet in a sonic mobile of tape hiss and click. Dubby elements and crackles turn slowly in afternoon sunlight. A poised and spacious sound, and a very welcoming and human vibe. Tracks incorporate signature Tattersall sounds like micro-recorded acoustic guitar strums and twangs alongside sampler flutter and mellow bleeps. Check out the last track for a alternate branch of history where those berlin-style delayed chords are still echoing away to themselves. Reminiscent and fresh at the same time. Recommended. Special note must also go to the packging, handmade from the covers of old hardback books. Mine has an inscription in it for someones christmas present! Lovely
