Onurb - Defrost EP May 03, 2003
Sounds very much like Vitalic, just less distorted and a bit less melodic. These are killer tunes for that time of night when yr head starts to bend far away from reality!
Is this a Vitalic psuedonym?
Linda Lamb - Hot Room Jun 12, 2002
This has got to be the most 80's thing released on Gigolos yet, which is really saying something...It's dead good though. Is it just my imagination, or does she sing something about "a plate of meatballs caught on fire"? Surely not!
The Club Mix (the 12 minute version) just doesn't know when to stop... It starts marching, full on and dirty, and it just doesn't stop. And you don't want it to. You want it to keep on going in it's tunnel of funky psychaeldelic wonderfulness. There's a shorter version of this mix around that I'd love to get a hold of. Anyone help?
Vitalic - Poney EP Mar 06, 2002
How can something so funky and so DISCO be so fucking mental? I thank the good lord that La Roc hasn't gone mainstream or else there'd be all manner of hell breaking loose.... Play this and watch those bodies gyrate!!!!!
What a beast of a record this is. I usually think that Fatboy Slim is a pile of kak, but this is a superb slice of techno, with the most incredible vocal hook "They just strut, what the fuck". Every home should have at least one copy!
ADULT. - Nausea Feb 09, 2002
"Nausea"....I like songs like this. Deceptively simple, the sound of ancient electronics, squeeks, bleeps and clicks with wonderful queasy vocals sung by an obviously unhinged sociopath. Nausea indeed. This is one of the best tunes from that electro/techno/disco genre (can somebody come up with a suitable name please!) and I bet you you'll find yourself singing it at work and getting funny looks from your colleagues......he he he!!
Very sexy and exotic. Sounds exactly like music that an S&M freak from France who lives in Tokyo would make. Pass the poppers and whip me harder! Can Gigolos do no wrong?
"Warm" is not warm at all. It's cold and claustrophobic and evil. It's also damn funky and I love it like it were my own child.
Zombie Nation - Unload Feb 09, 2002
The track "Unload" is pretty phenomenal in an early 80's Eurythmics/"I Feel Love" sort of a way. The disco diva vocals confused me initially - "What the hell is this? Wot no vocoder?" - but after the first 3 minutes I was hooked. The tune drags you into a total disco vortex and it's the sort of groove that you just don't want to stop. Top notch. "Call Centre" is pretty much standard Zombie Nation fare. Functional electro-techno. But the remix of Divine's "Step By Step" is pretty damn good in a sort of "How on earth can you beat the original" kinda way. This is a gem of a record if you like yer sleaze!
