James Lavelle - Global Underground GU37 Bangkok - 07-Aug-09 05:21 PM
Surprising. Surprising how one disc can be so good while the other can be so mediocre. The first part is absolutely amazing, each tune is threaded flawlessly with each other, weaving a beautiful masterpiece with awesome tunes from Lavelles UNKLE, Border Communitys Nathan fake and James Holden, sweet rhythmic melodies from Radiohead and Layo & Bushwacka and the Doves; all just to tone it down in the second part to some blunt, non-inspiring tracks. I wish Lavelle had ended his mix after the first part, though, perhaps remembering whats good, the final tracks on the second disc do remind the flow of the first one.
Altogether I recommend this mix, with a simple 5/5 for the first part and a 3/5 for the second.

Plastician - Rinse: 06 - 21-Feb-09 09:22 PM
Dear god, what a massive compilation! This heavy bass mix from rinse is by far one of the best dubstep mixes I have heard, delivered beautifully by Plastician, this is as true to dubstep/grime as it can get; it even surpasses Skreams compilation for rinse (Rinse 02) with it quality tunes (ironically with Skreams 10 Bit Dreamz and Fick tunes being totally out of this world).
Listening to this was probably one of the best hours in my life.
11/10!

Metro Area - Fabric 43 - 19-Nov-08 07:18 AM
Finally a refreshment from fabric. Ever since fabric 29 (Tiefschwarz) Ive been waiting for something good to come from fabric (excluding the Fabriclive series) and it finally came. A funky-groovy mix by the metro guys (highlights for me are Barbara Norriss Heavy Hitter, Voyages Souvenirs and Open Mind by Jean Luc Ponty). I must admit I have not heard any of the tracks before listening to this compilation but was very relieved with the outcome. Im already foreseeing another low, monotonic, minimal mix in the future by John Tejada in fabric 44, but at least for now I can enjoy this.
Thank you Metro Area!

Plump DJs - System Addict / Doppler - 03-Dec-07 09:18 AM
With just few words to describe this release - System addict is a massive tune, it explodes right in your ears with seamless breaks and agitating beats. Its catchy and will be/is most likely a huge dance floor hit. Although Doppler is not too bad, it has a feeling of something not totally finished with twirling sounds and bleeps, though regardless of its qualities it feels like nothing can sound as good the A side of that vinyl. A whopping 5/5 for me!

Death In Vegas - FabricLive. 23 - 29-Mar-06 09:43 AM
The beautiful melodic sound of Richard Fearless is reflected in an almost complete masterpiece on this fabriclive mix. Opening with the fine tunes of Solvent folloed with his own Zugaga, leads the listener to an endless void of sorrow filled with delicate sound - probably the best opening in any of the Fabric collection. Alas, the magnificent composition is then switched abruptly to a monotonic sound for the next few tracks, reaching an agonizing low with Alex Cortexs Phlogiston.
However, The mix continues with the subtle line it starts with Mathew Jhonson, and Natja. All in all - this is a true must for Death in vegas fans, and a really good intro to melodic minimalism as it is done here in the best way possible.
