DJ Shadow - Endtroducing... - 27-Apr-08 07:29 PM
I have recently purchased this album and have played it endlessly. To me, this album is all about the drums. As a DJ, when choosing records, other parts such as hooks or vocals would always come first; however, in this piece everything seems to come after the drums. If you are a fan of either Hip-hop or Electronica -- or even Rock, this album could change your perspective on the potential of a drum. For mainstream music, the appearance of the artist as a DJ or it containing samples might lead some skeptics to believe that this album may have an underground aesthetic.

DJ Buck - How The West Was Won - 27-Sep-07 11:49 PM
Side A or How the West was One is the highlight track. The track samples the guitar riff from the film The Good the Bad and the Ugly (hence its name). The bassline is what makes this track stand out; the bassline is nostalgic of the SF tribal house scene (Tony, Jeno, Siesta records), yet with more funk. Along with getting people on the dancefloor (as I've seen it do at a few clubs), the track is dj-mix friendly.

Nikola Baytala - 03-Nov-05 07:40 PM
If you ever come to San Francisco don't go see the Golden Gate, rather Go see Nikola Baytala spin. His minimal techno will have you dancin' all night, with precision mixing, and solid track selection. He is very intresting to watch also, even more than Donald Glaude, because he really gets into his mixes, well not as much as the crowds do. I've seen many djs live everyone from Derrick Carter to Paul Oakenfold and by far Nikola had to be the best. Recently I checked him out and he spun before Ritchie Hawtin, Nikola rocked it way better and I left after Hawtin;s 4th record. Check him out sometime.

Backroom Productions - 100% Pure Underground Basics Volume 1 - 30-Oct-05 07:52 PM
I happily paid $100 bucks for this record, and I know I am on of the few djs that has this record. Heard Derrick Carter play it on a mix that used to flow around on Naptser(When it was Free). Wonderful record, you just look at it and it makes you want to throw it in your mix. Will fill dance floors any hour..

Ron Trent / Joshua / Abacus / Chez Damier - The Foot Therapy EP - 26-Oct-05 06:46 PM
Imagine going to a record store in 1995 and buying this vinyl for 5.99. Three completely different sounding superb house tracks on one vinyl, which puts all your other records to shame. This record should be a lesson to all those "labels" that give us four remixes of the same track on one vinyl, which we usually buy out of boredom. Also, to all those deaf djs who rated this 4 and below: I know a record store that has all those Alice Deejay and Spice Girl(House Remixes)on you wantlist.
