Pelpp and A. Vanvranken - Pedal May 31, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
There is some quality IDM with a chill, downtempo type feel on this album. It's a shame that it's not consistent. The first three songs are great. Track #4 starts getting a little average, and after that they try getting a little too experimental. It picks up again at track #10 and finishes strong. Worth checking out.
Nicolas Freeman - Renaissance Mar 20, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
I picked this up in a bargain bin a couple years ago and was pleasantly surprised. Also surprising is that it came out in 2002, when I believe it has a much older sound to it, like maybe 1995-1999. For a long time before I started using Discogs a lot, I though that the Perc Remix meant percussion remix. That is the better mix in my opinion, but now I know that it is in fact a producer. One thing I should mention is that it is a difficult song to mix in and out of. Of course it could be my flawed DJ skills, but I think others might agree.
Central Rush - Out Of Focus Mar 12, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
This is a very lazy song. I feel lazy when I listen to it, both mixes. The soft echoing vocals, reverberating synths, and rolling bassline scream laziness. The Tkac and Haverlik remix does have a bit more energy though. Perfect for listening at home on a lazy day.
ODD - Don't Look At Me Mar 08, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
A very nice record. Perfect for closing out a set, or for some easy listening. Definitely evokes a strong feeling of something, I still haven't figured out what yet. Fairly simple tune, but I haven't heard anything like it before. One of the synths used reminds of me of the old-school game for Nintendo, "Wizards and Warriors", so it really has a nostalgiac feel to it. Somehow, "Don't Look At Me" is a perfect title for this song. A good addition to any collection.
Castor & Pollux - Serenity Mar 08, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
I'm sure this might upset a lot of people who own this record, but to me the vocals are unbearable. The voice isn't so bad, as it is annoying. Maybe if they had not made the vocals so prominent throughout the song, it wouldn't be so bad. Not good for home listening, couldn't imagine it in a club. Perhaps if they reworked it, or a better remix, they might have something.
Desert - Moods (2003 Remix) Mar 07, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
I really like this record. Squelching synth sounds, toe-tappin basslines, mixed with some nice prog house. Both mixes have something to offer, so I highly recommend you pick this record up. Guaranteed to get you moving.
Carbon Based Lifeforms - Hydroponic Garden Mar 06, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
This is a solid ambient cd. It took a little while to grow on me, but all these 5/5 ratings are well deserved. Standout tracks for me are the self titled "Hydroponic Garden", I don't think a song can get much more complete than this. Very lush sounding, with soft breaks. Also "Artifical Island" is a wonderful song. Very different, minimal, cool use of sounds and a strange robotic voice repeating "artifial island" several times. It's hard to make out that's what is being said, but you can decipher it after a while.
Özgür Can & Rouzbeh Delavari - Eternity Mar 06, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
Some tasty breaks here. A nice combination of breaks and melody. I prefer the "Chris Lake's Dirty Breaks Mix". Nice use of vocal: "There's too much going on, I think I'm leaving". Well actually it is not sung, it is spoken. The breaks are definitely dirty on this remix, good show. A pretty emotional song for breaks I must say and a quality release.
Arrakis - The Spice Mar 06, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
I got this gem just for the Silent Breed remix. It starts off simple enough, but once full blown it is quite a stormer. It's a shame I've never heard this proper like in a club or rave. It would sound amazing on big system I believe. Definitely a little too long to play in it's entirety though.
Anoma - Let It Go (Remixes) Mar 06, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
Don't let the low rating fool you. It's not a great release, but is worth it just for the "Maurice's Cloaked Remix". It's a good song to open a set to. I really like the subtle guitar placed in it, just a nice combination of instruments used overall.
