Aria (2) - Aria One (Magikal Edition) - 19-Jan-06 01:00 PM
What an extraordinary way of bringing classical masterpieces to life by adding a modern touch. This is the first album in the Aria series, and the only one to be released on Black Hole recordings with remixes by well known artists Tiesto and Armin Van Buuren. The remixes are the reason I discovered this CD, and both of them are very well made in a great touch of uplifting trance. However, these "bonus tracks" do not in any way deserve to exist on this CD. After taking the journey through an album of ambient musical brilliance, you're suddenly surrounded with powerful trancy beats that angry up the blood and you lose every peaceful thought the album brought to you.

Woody van Eyden - Unfinished Symphony - 02-Dec-05 01:00 AM
This record is special in many ways. It is a crossover from Van Eyden's old sound, euro dance, to more sofisticated uplifting trance. Woody Van Eyden at his best! There's still a "joy-joy feeling" that some might call cheesy, but it can be played in a trancy DJ set and noone will complain.

Many trance tunes today are based on a break with melodies that sound as if you were listening to the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. Unfinished Symphony is no exception. But it's still an original track, with moments that really grabs you and with melodies that makes you smile and frown at once. It takes you to an abyss, asking if you dare to jump off, and then let you decide for yourself.

This record was the first release on Woody Van Eyden's own label Fenology, and worked as a statement that he's now left his cheesy period and became a full-blown trance artist.

ATB - No Silence - 09-May-05 06:23 AM
For over a year I thought to myself, should I buy this album or not? I used to love ATB's music back in the day, but he's changed a lot since then. One day I came across this Asian Edition, containing an extra CD with clubb mixes and previously unreleased versions of the singles "Marrakech" and "Ecstasy". I got myself to buy it, for old times sake. That my friends, was the best desiscion I've made in my whole life! The entire album is a cheesefest of unexplainably high quality, and you can still hear the typical ATB sounds here and there!

Worth mentioning is that the album version of "Here With Me" is far better than the single versions, with those orgasmic sensual beats that send chills all the way to my toes from start to end. Perfection!

Lange Featuring Leah (2) - Don't Think It (Feel It) - 07-Feb-05 11:02 PM
When I heard this, I realised for the first time that Lange is human too. His previous (and later) works are all heavenly, but this just didn't pull me off the ground like I expected. I bought it because of the remixes - I've always liked Shane 54 and Cosmicman's strong beats and breaks - but neither they offer that special feeling. The whole track is based on the vocals, and I have to say that even the vocals fail to grab my attention.

It's not really a bad track. In fact, listening to it at a low volume on a sunday evening is quite soothing. But it's not exacly the track I'd want my kids to play for me on my funeral.

Rusch & Murray - Epic - 19-Nov-04 04:05 PM
Epic is neither the first project of Christian Rusch & Greg Murray nor the last, but it's most certailny their best! The original mix is the part that makes this track live up to it's name, but the Above & Beyond Remix is in fact slightly better. Such a simple melody and yet so brilliant and breathtaking! Definately one of my favourite trance tunes of 2003.
