Reviews:
Various - Hypnotrance 5 - The Intergalactic Trance Collection - 10-Jan-06 11:28 PM
This release isn't particularly good, being pretty monotonous trance by mostly unknown artists, except for one track: Desphex - The Seventh Sign. This acidic, floating masterpiece alone makes this compilation worth owning.
Juno Reactor - Shango - 30-May-05 02:09 AM
This album is dark. In my opinion the darkest piece Juno Reactor have ever made. All the tracks have a feeling of immense doom, like Badimo or a hallucinogenic surrealism like Pistolero. Nitrogen 1 & 2 are an industrial/ambient duality, telling us of a dark and polluted future, and the final piece, Song For Ancestors, is spiced with maniacal laughter. It's quite a good piece, like everything Juno Reactor have made - but I'd still like to call it their weakest one, judging by their standards. It's the transition between Bible Of Dreams and Labyrinth, a cocoon phase... not as innovative as the first or as accomplished as the second.
8.5 out of 10 I'd say.
Hallucinogen - SpacePussy - 11-Jan-05 03:29 AM
The very elusive Space Pussy single. What is there to say? Essentially, it contains three of the best Hallucinogen tracks ever made. The title track is fast and aggressive, and very psychadelic. Thugs... takes a bit longer to get used to, but once you know it, you'll love it. Then the last one, Trancespotter. THIS is a true masterpiece. It screams with dark energy, twisting and turning until you are all absorbed... and then - BANG!
100/100. It's a must-have, though very hard to find.
Transwave - Hypnorhythm EP - 30-Nov-04 01:50 PM
It's the first CD Transwave did. Even though it's labeled as an EP, it's around 63 minutes long, making it longer than many full-lenght albums. The Hypnorhythm EP sounds quite old, and it is, but it's still my favorite Transwave release.
Shpongle - Are You Shpongled? - 22-Nov-04 01:10 PM
This is possibly the best psy album ever. So deep and multi-facetted, there is no telling how many layers there are. A wonderful, musical journey, as is everything Shpongle has made. Also try their Tales Of The Inexpressible album for some more "world music" spice, and don't dare to miss their third album "Nothing lasts" in early 2005.
