Yo La Tengo - Danelectro - 18-Apr-08 04:25 PM
The first two songs on this album are so peaceful and serene. It's a thoughtful trip that inspires good memories with a folky soul that only Yo La Tengo can provoke. With such a chilled beginning to the album it's ironic how chaotically experimental that the second half of the album becomes with the remixes by Kit Clayton and Nobukaza Takemura. The ladder of the two being the sickest track on this ep by far. Nobukaza Takemura's remix is an epic adventure in experimentalism and melodic bliss. Finely constructed breakbeats lead to an epiphony of drill n bass madness that will have your mind bending around the ideas behind this remix.

Cylob - Living In The 1980s / Sex Machine - 18-Apr-08 01:14 PM
Cylob is one of the true Masters of the IDM genre. This little diamond of a single proves Cylob's range of influence and production skills. The title track is a perfectly executed throwback to the Freestyle Electro vibes of the late 80's dance era, and the extended dance mix version is the perfect blend of IDM beats and old school. The additional track, "Sex Machine" has to be one of my all time favorite songs. It is the greatest sexual robot rap ever created, and Cylob's perfect trademark breaks rolling away under the humor natured lyrics are mana from heaven for my ears. This is a must have for true Cylob fans.

Funkstörung - Additional Productions - 18-Apr-08 12:34 PM
This is a great set of Funkstorung remixes. Funkstorung is the team of Cris Deluca and Michael Fakesch. Some stand-outs are Bjork's "All is Full of Love", and the duo's play on hip-hop legends of Wu-Tang like Ol'Dirty Bastard.
I absolutely love when Funkstorung turn up the bpm and you really can get a sense of their complexity when it comes to beat editing, like on the closer of this album, "S'Apex-Henryk". Emotinally charmed melodies and flawlessly chopped beats also will define the albums opening remix of "Visit Venus - Children Of The Rave Solution".

Guineo - Tosstones - 18-Apr-08 11:27 AM
Push Button Objects and Chocolate Ind. alwasys come thru, and this release by Guineo is no exception. Guineo is an early Alias of Edgar Farinas(Push Button Objects) and "Tosstones" shows off Edgar's skills in gritty Urban Hip-Hop influenced IDM. Amazing sample editing and sneaky, sometimes spicy melodic textures burn into your brains pleasure zones, all the while headbobbing to the infectious beats. The 1st and 3rd tracks are the highlights for me, constructed so perfectly, they are proof that Push Button is one of those rare, and early American benchmarks in the IDM scene.

Level SL - Tektonikal Turbulence EP - 18-Apr-08 12:42 AM
Level SL, a collaboration between members of phonecia and a debut taste of what was to come by Otto Von Schirach. This acidic trip into breakbeat & experimental Drum n Bass shows off the Carnivalesque evil humor that Otto seems to prey on in his music. Twisting, crunching dark breaks and experimental sample editing flow in parallel with charming jump-up basslines and sparse effected punk vocals. This was a rare find at a small record shop on Miami beach a decade ago.
