Click Box - Espaço E Tempo - Espaço - 17-Aug-08 08:40 AM
Very interesting release, I loved all tracks except "Fun K Mouth" with its annoying, overused, boring and in my opinion unnecessary sound throughout the track (you know which one i'm talking about). It's a shame because it has a nice funky bassline and this high pitched sound ruins the whole atmosphere created initially. "Microgram" is my personal favourite in this release, definitely the most minimal and slow-building track in there, then comes "Bass tilt" with its dark disco feeling and "Sugar pain", with a taste of electro.
Various - Post Office Special Argentina Madness - 17-Jul-08 10:51 AM
This compilation is literally minimalistic MADNESS! Deep but punchy, sneaky basslines and discrete micro-rhythms are present in almost every track and make this very danceable material. It's one of those releases that reminds you what REAL minimal is! Funk all over, and that "immersion in the music" feeling! Fantastic stuff! Franco Cinelli's "Inside" is the highlight of this release in my opinion. It really pulls you "inside" it and fries your brains with its evil funkiness!
Robert Hood - Fabric 39 - 02-Jun-08 12:38 PM
I like this mix, track selection was very good i think HOWEVER, something has to be made clear about this mix: this is absolutely NOT minimal, even in the broader sense, and believe me, the term has become quite flexible and now is used even to describe slower techno that just doesn't follow the banging 140bpm 90's-style techno. I suppose you could call very few tracks in this mix "minimal", but the overall feel is more like techno and tech-house. But this doesn't prevent it from being a very interesting mix, with that dance feel to it. Good stuff!
Heartthrob - Signs - 29-May-08 12:34 PM
Very good release! "Signs" has a fantastic catchy melody that will certainly get stuck in your head for a few days, overall a great funkydark track! "Apprentice" is just INSANELY deep and danceable, when I listen to it i feel like going clubbing right away. Will get stuck in your head as well! It's got a fantastic bassline, you have to listen to it to appreciate its greatness. "Valentine" is not for the club for sure, but still a great enjoyable piece of music, it's more experimental/minimal than minimal techno or house. This release is one of those releases that brings back your faith to modern electronic music if you're starting to question it!
Mara Trax - ...It Got Me Funk - 21-Apr-08 02:18 PM
Personally I am not impressed by the release as a whole. BUT, "The Rhythm" is one of the deepest, most hypnotic, trippy, bassy, dubby, funky tracks i've heard! It's minimal-tribal-tastic! It's one of those tracks that when played in, say, Fabric, you would have an orgasm listening to it (and feeling it through the floor)! The rest are are full of chill-out-ish sounds that turn me off immediately, they are just some house tracks that won't be carved into your mind. If I was to order the tracks by preference it would be (note that the 2nd best is miles away from the first): "The Rhythm", "Let Goose", "Funk me", "Me Funk".
