Kuniyuki* - Remixed Vol.1 - 13-Aug-08 04:06 AM
WOW!! Theo Parrish is definitely back with this hypnotic dreamy superb production. Ive been craving for a track that moves me for a long time and finally, the master of sound architecture delivers a long, sensual journey. I like that the track is not linear, there are different chapters to it, the organ coming in midway through the track kind of changes the direction of the track into a deeper piece of music. This is nothing less than one brilliant producer remixing the work of another brilliant producer. Pure gold.
Eri Ito - Sona Me Areru Ec Sancitu - 01-Aug-08 06:06 AM
Probably one of Ron Trents best productions, along with "Lamentations (You Son)" by Cark Hancock Rux. Nice build up, although I wish the latter part of the song (when the beat kicks in) was a little longer to indulge in a longer dance. Saori Kabayashis voice is angel like, floating freely with the beats. Ron Trents orchestration is magnificent: crisp keys with a well programmed rhythm section. Dont hesitate and get this track, its a must have.
Loop 7 - The Theme - 02-Jul-08 02:30 AM
Absolutely gorgeous, just simply amazing track by Satoshie Tomiie. A house music orchestra performance is what this timeless, epic track is about... dancing the night away to beautiful pieces like this one is what its all about. Hard beats, gentle melodies, soothing piano riffs, yet a hard-driving rhythmic groove. And all mixes are great, especially the Lamento mix. Ahhhhh, they dont make them this good these days! And those heavenly chimes make you wanna float in space.
Mateo & Matos - Idris Rises - 30-May-08 03:40 AM
When one is used to Mateo & Matoss disco-house oriented productions, this one comes as a big surprise. In my book, this is one of the top 10 House music records in the 90s. Deep, dark, afro-latin rhythms meet deep deep house and no better label than Spiritual Life Music to put it out.
I remember Joe Claussell dropping this for the first time in Montreal during the Jazz Festival in 1998.... I was blown away. Where did they get the inspiration to produce such a mystical piece. They made the keyboard SPEAK, just like a guitarist makes his guitar speak. A good dose of melancholy mixed with deep emotions must have been imprignated in the producers mind when writing Idris Rises. I even wonder where they got the title.
This track is pure gold.
Slam Mode - Fiat Mistura EP - 30-May-08 03:34 AM
This EP opened me up to Spiritual Life Music back in 1997. An amazing and creative production by the nuyorican duo Slam Mode. Since then, Ive discovered many of Slam Modes productions which are ridicilously daring, always pushing the boundaries of "danceable" house music.
Now with Fiat Mistura, they open up with "Europa", a dark deep track, following by "Ganyamede Ultra" which uses the same sample of underwater sounds (whales, etc.) as the ones you find on John Beltrans "Aquatic"; this track is a deep deep journey and has that "subterranean" sound often found in Johnny Fiascos records.
The big hit though is Abyssus, an instant dancefloor classic. Not a big banger but a beautiful composition with piano riffs. The track is unstoppable, you get the feeling it will go on and on. Great stuff from Angel and Michael, with the addition of Wayne Gardiner.... a great combination!
