Suzanne Vega - Tom's Diner (The Brad Copeland Hutz Remix) - 13-Mar-07 06:21 AM
On a Discogs scale of 1 to 5 this is a 10! Brad Copeland is the MAN! Definitely, this is the best remix of Suzanne Vega's "Tom's Diner" I've ever heard! Period! The bassline is earth shattering! It's very dubby until about 3 minutes in and then BAM! The vocals come in and it's Heaven. A simple and intelligent rework. Copeland is one to watch for. Top notch!
Afrika Bambaataa & James Brown - Unity - 06-Feb-07 03:27 PM
In my opinion a classic example of what Hip Hop was and has gone so far away from. When Hip Hop was about showing moves on the dance floor. Unity was glorified and peace the ultimate purpose. No modern Rapper could understand the genius of Bambaataa and Mr. Brown with releases such as these because their direction in there ignorance, is here on earth, or a lateral direction, while this song "Unity" is an unmistakable direction upward. Bless these guys I miss these days very much.
Dynamix II - Bass Generator / Ignition - 18-Sep-05 03:34 PM
Undoubtly one of the best Elctro Bass records to come out of Miami... Period! Both sides are rockin'. Nice clean deeeeep bass, simple bassline and thee almighty vocoder. On the A- side "Bass Generator"...forget it, play this track to an Electro crowd and they will lose it. Everytime I think of Dynamix II this is definitely one that comes to mind. More specifically a line from the robot trance-inducing-voice that says "with this low frequency can cause devastation..." and it sure does. The B-side "Ignition" everytime I hear it I involuntarily start poppin'& lockin' and with enough space in the area, I hit floor. A must have for all dj's. A timeless classic.
OSC - Return Of The Great - 14-Sep-05 09:24 PM
Absolutely amazing! This record always ends up on my turntables whenever I play an Electro set and is reminiscent of the Electro wizard Sem. A1 and A2 always gets their heads boppin' and the the B-Boys charged. I can barely contain myself when this record is pumpin' through a loud system with it's "boom-boom Shaak" drum loop and dark synth stabs. A must have for any serious Electro DJ. Top notch!
