The synthpop stuff is fun but the hip-hop/downbeat whatever it is is just bad. The few tracks that stand out on this:

"The Answer is Yes" - nice use of violins here. Has a good feeling.

"Timecode" is a retro sounding synthpop piece that really works.

"Schwabylon" Good use of the vocoder. Funky disco sounding. More of a club piece really.

The rest is just bad. Cant recommend. Theres just too much of a hip-hop feel for this record to work in the aggregate. Not sure why Kompakt released this.

Si Begg - Moveup - 25-Oct-07 12:11 PM
Probably the worst release from Si Begg Ive yet to hear, this collage of bad hip-hop/rap and pseudo-experimental beats is the direction I was hoping Si Begg wouldnt go. Is this also the direction Landstrumm is taking? One can only hope not.

Foregoing his brilliant renditions on Tresor, Mosquito, and others, it seems Begg is moving towards the more commercial venue. Why, Si, why?

The worst offender of the lot is A1. Its rasta-like rapping serves no purpose but to dull the ear. Yuck.

Pass on this record all together. Theres a good reason its not rated as one of the better Begg records out there.

Justin Berkovi - 01273 Violence - 24-May-05 01:23 PM
Coming from the now defunct Force Inc, this release is really great.

The B side comes with the greatest offering. Post Destruction was a favorite of mine to play at parties, and it went off really well. It still would definitely work. However, the sound system must be able to play the thick lower bass part of the song.

On the A side, the first track is reminds me of Justin Berkovis releases off of Djax. The second track on the A side sounds familiar to those who know Neil Landstrumms sort of electro soundscape releases.

Very good record. This is typical Justin Berkovi (IE - its good!)

Steve Bug - H0 - 24-May-05 01:21 PM
This record is fulfilling on a lot of different levels. On one level, there are good minimal cuts that are interesting, yet usable.

Then theres side B which is definitely the better side.

The title track H0 bounces and marches along until youre humming along with the main theme.

The second track on side B entitled, Nighttrain isnt something youd play at a club. Its something that youd listen to at your house at 7 AM after a good night of partying. The synths blend with the acid line of this song in a wonderful fashion.

Good release. Pick it up for side B.

Inigo Kennedy - The Difficult Third - 24-May-05 01:21 PM
Holy Cow - were not kidding around here folks. Side A is freaking amazing with this amazing synth sound coming in and then BAMMMMM - I can hardly contain myself. Its absolutely incredible. Play this on the largest soundsystem you can find and as loud as you can. Its very difficult to mix due to the amazing number of sounds that are all going off at the same time.

Side B is spacey and hard at the same time. Its got a bass that reverberates and can be confusing when youre trying to mix. Ethereal is the word I would use to describe it.

What an awesome record.
You must listen to side A - the second song without skipping through it. Everytime I hear it, I literally start screaming. Im serious. It will blow your mind.
