B12 - Electro-Soma - 26-Feb-08 02:08 PM
Contrary to the above review, I do not find anything about this release to be similar to Aphex Twin or the Black Dog. Aphex Twin and the Black Dog were consistently groundbreaking, fresh, and intelligent. This release contains none of those qualities. Like the top review, I agree that this is none other than a slightly more innovative take on the very exhausted acid house outline and foundation set before it. Starting with the percussion, the frequent use of the 909 is cliche, untreated/expanded, very plain, and just quite unoriginal. A 4/4 kick with repeated sequences of the 909 trademark open hat and hand claps is pretty much the most of what you'll find here, percussion-wise. Moving to the synths/pads, the sounds used arent manipulated much further than the default sounds that came with the various synthesizers they used, which is the least of what a producer whos output is considered "idm" should be doing. The textures and melodies used arent evocative in the slightest bit, and they seem to lack originality as well. If you like boring ambient house check this one out, im sure you wont be dissapointed.

A Guy Called Gerald - Voodoo Ray - 05-Nov-07 08:24 AM
I don't see how anyone could enjoy this. I like acid house, and I can understand that this was made when technology was outdated, but come on! This tune sucks! There is nothing interesting about it. The acid lines are boring and monotonous, and the sound effects are too loud and give me a headache. It sounds too unoriginal, there is no hook and there is nothing that separates this from other tunes of the time.

Angello & Ingrosso* - Yeah - 21-Sep-07 09:13 AM
Normally I wouldn't go anywhere near an Angello or Ingrosso release, but this banger is far different from the utter trash that these guys seem to be cranking out these days. Theres alot a piano can do, and the repeating riff in this track works with the tribal rhythm and thumping beat that escalates higher and higher after the breakdown almost like a modern trance track. With this structure the track can acutally work in most trance sets. Most trance dj's nowadays have been incorperating shitty house tracks into their mixes, so If you are a dj try and be selective and throw in a track like this once in a while.

DeepChord - dc12 - 26-Aug-07 05:38 PM
OO1 is the best one on this vinyl by far. It has one of the most uniquely adaptable dub/dancehall-ish basslines. The looping dark reggae guitar and echoing stabs over the subwoofer-pounding bassline makes this track worth hearing. The perfect fusion of Jamaican dub and techno will not only make this track worth hearing, once you hear it you wont want to stop pressing replay.

Quosp - 03-Aug-07 03:22 PM
If you think your search for quality ambient music nowadays is endless, you'd better think twice. From what I have heard on his various albums on Metanoia and Rope Swing Citites, Qusop has to be one of the best that there is. Upon listening to the rich textures, deep and emotional drifing chords, and washy pads, Quosp gives a new meaning to the word soundscape. I highly reccomend downloading every single one of his tracks that you can get your hands on, even if you aren't an ambient listener his music is great for a first time listen or a voyage into a dream-filled slumber.
