Jean-Michel Jarre - 04-May-04 10:36 AM
As a music collector, and lover of all things synth, Jarre is an included artist in my ever expanding music collection. As much as I like his work, I have to bring up the fact that when Jarres 'Oxygene part IV' charted in August 1977, Kraftwerks 'Autobahn' had already been doing the rounds for more than 2 years. If you want pioneering electro/synth then start from Germany before arriving at France.
Nu Shooz - Poolside - 20-Apr-04 04:11 PM
The album version of 'I Can't Wait' is so fashionable it hurts. The vocals and synth have got to be the most stylish ever heard in any avant garde disco track. Pure 80s Excess. Love It!
Pet Shop Boys - One More Chance / West End Girls - 20-Apr-04 04:06 PM
If you ever get the chance to hear the full Original Bobcat Version of West End Girls, then do so and do so again. The synth is so raw and the less than studio vocals are amazingly different to the English release. Has to be a track that takes pride of place in any PSB fans music library.
Dusty Springfield - Nothing Has Been Proved - 20-Apr-04 03:56 PM
Pet Shop Boys have always had the knack of producing 'atmospheric' records where you can almost imagine yourself been part of the song. This is no exception. Excellent production and brilliant vocals from Dusty Springfield. Got to be up there with PSBs 'Kings Cross' for setting a scene.
