Calibre - Shelflife - 23-Oct-07 09:01 AM
It's a solid lp and only seems lackluster for those who like their music impactful and garish. Calibre's music seeps into you and is very soulful. His production is tastefully and gracefully executed, and this album is a classy album of sexy deep rollers. Nothing stale about it: the album is called shelflife for a reason. A large portion of these tunes were written years ago yet stand up completely to the liquid funk/chill dnb output of today.

Zardonic - Her Lust For Blood / Scourge - 09-Oct-07 09:34 AM
These are great tracks that fit in well with the Limewax, Dylan etc sound of 2006-2007 (and on). Horror movie samples in a dark dnb tune are as cliche as always, yet Zardonic's genuine enthusiasm in putting this track together really shines through: it is not lazily done by any means. If anyone ever downloaded his dnb reworkings of black metal (he posted it for free), then you know this is a promising producer to look out for. Too bad when I loaded this track up on the decks, the production just wasn't as loud and crisp as is standard in big-label records I tried to mix it with (Freak, Tech Itch) etc. If Zardonic takes his engineering up a notch, he's got good ideas and his later productions should take off!
