Various - F.U.N. II (Part II) - 26-Sep-07 11:51 PM
Slipped under the radar for a lot of people but worth tracking down. Nuf is clicky midset groover who's underlying almost menacing bassline interplays nicely with the synths. Dosn't really build to much though. Dirt Crew really pulled out all the stops on Transit though. Snares drive this record into a peak while the slightly trancy sounds build up for a drop that tends to root people to the dance floor. One of Dirt Crew's finest moments.
Waldorf - You're My Disco - 26-Sep-07 11:27 PM
Hell, the tracks not very good and the lyrics are close to stupid but it's fun and I think thats the whole point of this crazy music anyway. Manages to feel instantly familiar. The New Romantic mix is the highlight here. It takes the track and turns it into a bouncy singalong that is great for when your ready to go from warming a crowd up to getting them out on the floor to dance.
Matzak - Girl In Water - 19-Sep-07 02:41 PM
It would be easy to call this a Border Community rip off but I personally think that the Border Community sound has reminded a lot of producers what they enjoyed about trance to begin with. Girl In Water is a very solid release with the subtle Dan Berkson & James What being the pick of the liter. It takes the track into a techier and more sedated route perfect for early sets or cooling a crowd off for a moment. The only real gripe is that it's a bit by the books but for those looking a continuation of the Border Community sound it's worth looking into.
Luciano - Amelie On Ice - 19-Sep-07 02:23 PM
Instant classic for me. Took me a long time to find this record but worth the time and effort to hunt this one down. Head straight on over to A2 for one of the most beautiful techno tracks ever created. Best of all, it dosn't loose it's dancefloor appeal in the dramatic bits of the sample. Hands down Luciano's best work. Not to be forgoten is the re-working of Eisbär which impresses with it's throbbing bass line. A must own for Luciano fans.
Tycho (3) - Past Is Prologue (Sampler) - 16-Jul-07 12:03 PM
The real highlight of this release for me is A Circular Reeducation (Dusty Brown Remix). This track is just one of those odd ball jems that will stick around in my record box waiting for that perfect moment to play. All the parts of this song feel like their constantly sliding in and out of the song as the clicks and minimalistic pops drive the track foward. Amazing release.
