Dieselboy
Jun 19, 2002
Dieselboy is a total machine and should be viewed as the best Drum N' Bass DJ in the US, ever. His mixing has gone waaaay beyond flawless, as at this point, Dieselboy mixes records that no one else can, literally. As he has won over the respect of the UK's D&B mafia, he has access to numerous dubplates and "one-time" presses that NO ONE else will ever get. Watching him spin is just as incredible, as he does it 100% effortlessly. Many of his mixes are also "one-shots", meaning no-rehearsal, he just mixed it once and pressed it. Dieselboy's best stuff however is the mixtapes that flow in the underground scene. You can barely find them now, but they are very good and simply amazing. I highly recommend everyone into D&B pick up his newest mix "Project Human" and critique it. It is Dieselboy's aim at fusing UK and US D&B together, as he has US hits remixed by UK producers, and UK hits remixed by US producers. He also incorporates not only Jungle and D&B, but also Disco, House, and even Trance. Very innovative, and possibly the most creative mix I've ever heard.
Digital
Jun 17, 2002
Digital is easily the hardest working producer in the Drum N Bass scene. Putting out numerous singles and LPs a year, Digital will release more tracks in a month than some artists will in a few years. The guy has probably cranked out 10 singles and 2 EPs/LPs this year alone! On the pinnacle of D&B labels, Timeless, Digital is one of the best producers out there. His beatz all have a distinct sound, but are very versatile.
Suggested Tracks- Spacefunk, Waterhouse Dub, Red Head, Hard Ears, Rocksteady, Nightmare (Digital Remix), Skyline, Warped 2
Technical Itch

Mark Caro is truly one of a kind. I can't think of many artist who, just by his name, I'll buy anything of his, without even listening to it. His tracks are very distinct and his style is indegenous to none other. His high level of detail to his tracks and also sound depth are one of his trademarks. His distorted, filtered style of Drum n' Bass is truly magnificent. No one can throw in Amen, and totally switch it up like he can. If you think Dark Jungle is dead, this guy is Lazarus.
Suggested Tracks: Mind Killa, Pusher, California Curse Remix, Reborn, Heavy Metal, Stack, Deadline
Pish Posh
May 14, 2002
Pish Posh, aka DJ Wally, is probably the best stateside producer of Drum N' Bass out right now. His sound is a fusion of both UK and US Drum N' Bass, which is very rare to find. As DJ Wally was known for his trip-hop, his Drum N' Bass skills are just as impressive. Not only that, but he is also a master of the tables, as he has several DJ Mixes out currently. His latest mix "Indoor Storm", shows both his versatile production and superior mixing skills, as all the tracks on this mix are produced by him. "Medicine Ball" and "HP52" are two KILLA tracks on the mix...hard, break-your-neck Amen! Also, His MC, Posi-D , is also a good addtion, as he ranks somewhere between Skibadee and Navigator.
Skeptic
Apr 10, 2002
Skeptic is probably my second favorite producer right now for hard Amen Rinseout tracks. Skeptic, aka Dave Cutter, hasn't been out that long, but the fact of the matter is that he revamping the Amen craze. My favorite track of his, and certainly one of the best dancable/listen-friendly D&B tunes ever is Tear (off the Tear/Media 12"). This track starts off with a sweet little tooted riff, then the most sensual voice starts to fade in...right about this time, you're gonna get an uppercut to the senses, as the Amen beatz invade the song...it goes into a nice little Amen pattern for a while, then the sensual voice...ah, very nice for any Drum N' Bass enthusiast and highly recommended.
Suggested Tracks: Tear, Lead, Grip, Vapour, Revolution
T.C. Izlam
Apr 08, 2002
TC Izlam is the baddest MC I've ever heard. Having notorious status in the UK, Izlam is now regarded as the #1 MC in the US, and in the top 5 in the World. He is the only US MC to work with several UK labels, and is featured in their productions. TC Izlam is the resident MC of Konkrete Jungle in NYC, and can often be found alongside his good friend and partner, Carlos "Soul" Slinger. Having personally met and chilled with this guy, I can tell you how cool he is. His ferocity and verbal tactics with a mic will go with nearly and Drum N' Bass DJ...he's sporatic, energetic, and I've never seen him anything less than amazing.
Suggested Tracks: Soul Power, Birth of Da Cool, Time & Space, Plutonic
Breakbeat Era - Ultra-Obscene
Apr 08, 2002
The collective of Full Cycle Producers, Roni Size and Die, with vocalist Leonie Laws spawns the group Breakbeat Era. Size wanted to break off from the Reprazent sound and focus on another aspect of UK Urban flavour, and called on the expertise of long-time associate Die to help. As the sounds of this CD are great, with crisp snares and rhthymic bass, it is Leonie Laws that puts the finishing touches on this album. The tracks are classic Breakbeat, with just enough D&B to keep it uptempo. In this CD, you can trully feel exactly what is being conveyed, as Laws and Size work symbiotically through the music.
Suggested Tracks: Bullitproof, Sex Change, Our Disease, Late Morning, Rancid
Future Cut
Apr 03, 2002
Future Cut is pure sensation are probably the most versatile producers in the scene right now. Their styles will switch up on you like Atlanta traffic. They will wine and dine you with fresh, soft Rollers, and cut you into pieces with Amen-bladed beatz. If you only hear one song by them, please make it "Midnight". As they released it under a ghost name "Un-Cut", it is the epitomy of Vocal Two-Step. This song will water the eyes, tweak the dancesteps, and send a true Junglist rolling for long nights to come. Anything and everything is done in this track, and even though I love the hard stuff, this song soften my heart and soul, and soothes my mind. It is the next classic D&B anthem, next to their near-godlike track "Obssession". Watch Future Cut...they are the chosen ones.
Suggested Tracks: Whiplash, Obsession, Midnight, Specialist,
A-Sides
Apr 03, 2002
I like to refer to A-sides as the "Jackie Chan" of D&B. Unlike alot of artists, A-sides will come off like the nicest, with a sensual beginning to his tracks, then he'll smack you upside the head, like you just stole something, with his beatz. His Amen-Anthem/Roller amalgam is remarkable, and I consider him to be the best on his East Side label, next to Skeptic. You gotta keep in mind...this is another guy who remixed Waterhouse Dub...don't get confused. I own the Crazy VIP/Dreaming LP, and I suggest anyone with aspirations to be a good DJ go right now and pick it up. As "Dreaming" is a nice Hard "Trance-and-bass" Roller, it is "Crazy VIP" that will get the dancefloor trampled. Look for anything else this guy does and go and get it.
Suggested Tracks: Calibre, Dreaming, Crazy VIP, Wake Up, Wake Up (Peshay Remix), Surface
Ray Keith
Mar 25, 2002
This guy's tracks can get a party hype like no other.
His Amen Smasher and Amen Rinseout sound is now the classic and one of the defining characteristics of the Jungle genre. As Keith has been in the biz for a while, he still hasn't lost his touch, as his remix of Digital's "Waterhouse Dub" is nearly as impressive and ear-pleasing as the original! Anything and everything Ray Keith has done is good. He's one of the few artists I can't find a track by that I don't like. I'm really going to have to get his address soon. Suggested Tracks: Alien Encounter, Now Is The Time, The Power, Chopper (feat. Shy FX), | ||||
