Omni Trio - The Haunted Science - 11-Oct-08 10:48 AM
Maybe the most musical drum n bass album out there, which raised the standard for intelligent drum and bass very high. This and the follow up album were real highlights and have not faded over more than a decade now.
Anyway, on one of those nights in 1996 I decided to mix the Aquasky remix of Who Are You followed by Aphex Twin's To Cure A Weakling Child from his RDJ album - we had such a good laugh! Give it a try yourself! But Haunted Kind got most rotation until today.
Buy on sight!
Autechre - 18-Dec-06 05:22 AM
if Autechre are going to make a new album, what about this one: after having spent more than a decade continuing to de-construct electronic music they will re-emerge with a beautiful ambient album full of haunting melodies and harmonic moments. a radical break away from their current style would be much appreciated - its getting repetitive - and thats the only thing that would make sense to me if those two guys were recording again. i listened to incunabula again last night and i wish booth and brown were sitting down and started committing themselves to doing music again. only something very different from their boring attempt last time round would make me wanna give them a chance again.
Rockers Hi-Fi - 08-Aug-06 07:47 AM
incredible guys - the longest joint of birmingham. three albums of ever changing mad dubby bluntedness. the songs build up and add/take away elements - for the real rockers. an some ways their three albums remind me of massive attack's first three albums: each a bit different, and any could be my favorite one at any particular time. push push remains THE anthem. check out also the release called "music is immortal" - totally stoned, mished and mashed by the rockers. rip.
O Yuki Conjugate - Sunchemical - 25-Oct-05 04:16 PM
Rarely did I come across a remix of such quality as Charles Webster's "Californium" effort to conserve the originality of "sunchemical" as we know it yet to leave seemingly endless room for developing the idea onwards.
Here, industrial, deep floating vibes from the ocean meet a rhythmic bouncy baseline supported by partially tribal percussion to allow a melodyline to dance like raindrops on this aural colossus to create an atmosphere of stunning ambience.
In fact, together with Juno Reactor's "Shark", this should have been the actual soundscape to "Das Boot".
Kosheen - Resist - 10-Apr-05 05:35 PM
Superb album, full of energy and haunting. Very tight production by Decoder & Substance. No tracks last longer than they should, which gives this album its forward drive. The ideal soundtrack for your 1 hour car journey!
