Ron Trent - The Afterlife - 28-Jul-03 05:34 AM
The epitome of less being more, the constituent elements of this track are few but Master Trent works each part continuously to produce one of the most perfect and moving tracks it has ever been my honour to hear. The two b-side tracks are also very beautiful but bow to the supremacy of the title track.

Voodoo Transmission - Voodoo Fire - 28-Jul-03 02:25 AM
The stand out track on this release is Crazy Jane, close in sound to FSOL and keeping an acidic feel without trancing out. Nice use of transform on the vocals

Hawkwind - 27-Jul-03 02:34 AM
Essential album - Astounding Sounds, Amazing Music for a track called The Aubergine That Ate Rangoon. This track is kind of electronic funk with a psychedelic feel.
As with any long standing band, Hawkwind have released their fair share of rubbish but they are a formative link between UK festival and rave scene. Their influence should not be underestimated as they are also champions of early outdoor free parties (Stonehenge Decoded anyone?)

Jaquarius - Love Is Happiness - 27-Jul-03 02:21 AM
This has to be one of the most dangerous bits of acid house ever released. 303s on a search and destroy mission but without resorting to high frequency screaming. I love this record but recommend only to those with a firm anchor to reality. Rampaging.

808 State - Newbuild - 27-Jul-03 02:09 AM
The lightbringer of early UK acid house, Flow Coma still stands as an incredibly complex, dribbling mass of giggling insanity that leaves dancefloors in a state of lysergic meltdown.
