Passionate collector, reviewer, traveller and music aficionado from Aalborg, Denmark. These are my babies.
I appreciate most styles of music, but electronic music has always had a special place in my heart. But I cannot limit myself musically. Working in a record store for 2½ years tought me that. There's so much great music out there.
Resident DJ @ Club Rock Nielsen, Jomfru Ane Gade, Aalborg (rock/metal/indie/grunge/nu-metal/emo/big beat/crossover/etc.)
All my CDs are originals of course (including promos and listening copies made by record labels!) A largish portion of my collection is still not added to Discogs. Will do that soon.
Oh, and I strongly believe that listing your mp3-collection on Discogs is foolish...

Various - Ear Pleasure - 23-Apr-07 01:42 AM
Floatation device…
Norway’s leading downtempo outlet, Chill Tribe Records, is out with its 3rd compilation. As always, the roster of artists boosts a very impressive line-up of well-established and legendary artists… Label boss PKS has scoured the scene once again and has come up with what looks like the third consecutive chill dream-team… Time for another ambient excursion.
Yup, Chill Tribe Records did it again and released a really lovely compilation. It doesn’t quite reach the awesomeness-level of Quality Relaxation or Relaxed Journeys, but it still has a handful of really excellent tracks… I’m pretty old-school, so the general flow in a compilation is important to me – and I think the flow is off here… I’d much rather start with the chilled tracks and then raise the tempo – instead of this CD which peaks in the middle. But since it’s not a mix, I guess I can’t really complain.
Once again I’m impressed by the work that PKS has put into this. Not only has he (once again) managed to scour the scene and has handpicked another batch of legendary artists, but he has also made a very informative booklet. The lovely artwork by Are Marmelade is in the usual high-quality Chill Tribe style. All in all a pretty nice compilation. Not the best from Chill Tribe, but lovely nonetheless. Recommended to both veteran chillers and crossover pioneers. Enjoy.

Sound Field - Audio Surfin' - 12-Apr-07 12:55 AM
Cross-dressing trance.
The sixth release from Spain’s Oxygen Records is the long awaited debut album from the Sound Field duo consisting of Israeli studio wizards Andy Yakovlev (ProSect, Sonify) and Liron Atia (who suffered an accident recently causing Andy to continue the project on his own for the time being).
When I write ‘long awaited’ I mean it – every single compilation track I’ve heard from these talented guys have been nothing short of breathtaking… Endlessly funky music from the deep realms of progressive trance fused with all kinds of electronic hybrids creating purebred crossover trance… Let’s find out if their full album delivers the same kind of stamina.
The Sound Field debut album is a very enjoyable encounter. Just as I’d expected, this was a very versatile journey spanning a wide musical spectre. From aggressive, relentless psytrance to smooth, silky-white downbeat, over lush and uplifting morning trance… And pretty much everything in between… There’s something for most people here.
Top notch production quality too from these multitalented producers… With only a one track that didn’t do much for me, I’m also impressed by the quality level here. From the subtle artwork to the story-telling. Lovely stuff for stuff for sure, that will most definitely find fans among both hardened trancers, clubbers and crossover aficionados. Enjoy!

Sattel Battle - SoundsCool - 21-Mar-07 08:50 PM
Glow stick repellent
Last year saw the resurrection of Australia’s Gi’iwa Production which finally surfaced again after a lengthy hiatus with their enthralling, genrebending Musica Discordia compilation. One of the most important compilations of 2006.
Elad Weinberg from Israel (Tsabeat) catapulted into the scene with his infectious, suomi-saundi track Dotman off the legendary debut Gi’iwa release Schizm released back in 2004. Since then his only Sattel Battle output were the two wacked-out gems on last year’s Musica Discordia + a bunch of releases under his darkpsy moniker Tsabeat. I’ve always preferred his wackier, more uplifting Sattel Battle style and ever since I found out about this debut album I’ve been excited…
Another fine Gi’iwa release draws to a close after the dramatic, side-splittingly funny bonus track. I like most of the stuff here – Elad manages to walk the tightrope between sheer excellence and bizarro-schranz like few others. A couple of the tracks didn’t agree with me, but they were scarce and more than outnumbered by the many brilliant tracks. Versatility is also a keyword here, as Elad ensures maximum attention from the listeners by never taking the easy way out or retorting to predictability. The sheer, eclectic force of this album makes it an a very interesting acquaintance alone – and the many stand-out tracks makes it even more kick-ass. The lush, urban artwork by Jason Hueman & T-Bone is the icing on the cake.
To sum up: A very fine debut album by Elad. Eclectic as always from Gi’iwa Production – and with enough depth to keep open-minded fans of versatile trance entertained for a long time… Picky neo full-on purists need to look elsewhere though… This is glowstick repellent. The rest of us will treasure this for a long time. Enjoy!

Prometheus - Corridor Of Mirrors - 11-Mar-07 02:19 PM
The ample and ambitious successor: The Echo Chamber Sessions.
London’s leading trance export Twisted Records is out with their 31st release, Corridor Of Mirrors which is the second album from Hallucinogen-apprentice Prometheus (Benji Vaughan). Virtually everything that Benji has had his paws on has been ace – from the early Process collaborations to the epic Younger Brother album. From the gargantuan first Prometheus album Robot.O.Chan to the many stand-out compilation tracks on Twisted and TIP.World. Crystal Skulls material in particular.
Benji is a subliminal producer of both progressive, full-on and downbeat and I regard him as one of the most pivotal post-2000 UK trance personas. So yeah, I’m a huge fan and I’ve been a happy camper ever since this second album was released. Now let’s find out if it meets the expectations.
Believe the hype!
As you’ve probably already guessed by now this album totally lived up to my expectations – and even exceed them. This is right up to par with the Holy Trinity: Prometheus’ Robot.O.Chan (Twisted Records/2004), Ott’s Blumenkraft (Twisted Records/2003) and the Younger Brother album A Flock Of Bleeps (Twisted Records/2003) – to put it in layman’s terms, it’s an instant classic!
Benji is such a versatile, deeply talented producer – and his output is as eclectic as it is rewarding. His talent spans several genres, but the subsequent basic framework of high-quality psytrance is always the common denominator. Ben does it best. The flashy, futuristic artwork by legendary Calx is proper eye candy and meets the high standard we’re used to from Twisted Records. My only gripe is that the album only runs for 64 minutes, but with music of such quality I’m willing to let that one slide. It’s the old quality over quantity thing.
All in all, this is an amazing album – there’s nothing even close to a mediocre track here and I’m positive several of these tunes will become proper trancefloor anthems in years to come. It’s *that* good. Comes highly recommended from me as this is one enchanted piece of plastic. A musical investment opportunity that few people can afford to miss. Trust me on this – you need this one! Enjoy!

Master Margherita - Mastura - 26-Feb-07 01:45 PM
The Bright Side Of The Moog
Three years ago Swiss downbeat juggler, DJ and label persona Master Margherita (Moreno Antognini) embarked on a journey to create his debut album. Moreno already has an impressive roster of chill-out projects and other musical explorations under his belt, but in the psytrance scene he is best known as Peak Record’s chill maestro and as a member of the Peaking Goddess Collective… Everything I’ve heard from Moreno has been top drawer downbeat and judging by the very impressive list of guest artists, Mastura looks like a very interesting acquaintance. Let’s find out.
Confined within a framework of electronic downbeat, Master Margherita’s Mastura album is a pretty versatile collection of both dreamy ambient, mellow downbeat, percussion-driven ethno-tribal chill-out and upbeat world music – and everything in between. There are no bad tracks here, but a couple of the tracks seemed a little too bleak for my taste – or at least I have to be in a certain mood to fully appreciate them. But hey, luckily there’s a hand-full of really nice choons here – and a couple of surprises. Nicey nice.
There’s no doubt that Moreno is a very skilled producer and his talent stretches into several genres. The mastering of this album is also spot-on and the artwork by Punkadelik is gorgeous. Despite all the good things I have to say about this album, it could have used a couple more stand-outs. So in that sense, this is not an essential album. It is however, a quality downbeat album that I’m sure will go down well with hardened chillers and fans of eclectic music in general. Enjoy.
