Twisted Individual - 07-Mar-03 07:17 PM
Twisted Individual has a huge dnb sound. His debut CD album, Tooled Up, is produced with the style of a seasoned veteran. Although fairly new to the scene, Twisted Individual can tear up a dance floor with his fat beats and basslines. He's a smooth mixer too. Tooled Up includes two discs, both of which are mixes. His style is tough and clean, but not overly distorted or dark. I highly reccommend it if you're into big sounding dnb.

Various - The Secret Art Of Science - 07-Mar-03 08:57 AM
Late-night listening. Good to pop in if you're trying to get laid. Highly enjoyable light drum n bass, but I just think it lacks any sort of edge. In my mind, dnb is all about focusing a particular energy. And I think db did that successfully, but he ended up with a mix that was so light and soft, that it's hard for me to even call it dnb. It's more along the lines of just chill. Nevertheless, If you're into light dnb, this may be the best album you'll ever come across. Don't misunderstand, I love a good soft track, just not 18 out of 20 on the mix

DJ DB - The Higher Education Drum & Bass Session - 07-Mar-03 08:51 AM
Easily one of the best dnb mixes ever. Incredible range, and classy mixing. Hits hard, and cools down really soft. Track selection is money. That said, db is a bit of a meglamaniac. He thinks he owns drum n bass or something. He's always giving speeches in his album inlays on how dnb has gotten away from it's roots, or it's not going in the direction it was intended to......whatever. If you can let go of db's egotistical attitude, it's easier to enjoy his music. I listen to dnb for the music, not for the political agenda of the artist.

Liftin' Spirits - Rollercoaster Life EP - 07-Mar-03 08:45 AM
Ant Miles, from the RAM camp, pushed out a good little EP. Crafted in the style of early Ram Trilogy, it's hard hitting, rythmic, yet a bit monotonous. Not many changes in his tracks. If any of the tracks were included on a full length dj mix so they didn't play out so long, the effect would be better. Conclusion: Good for mixing, not too enjoyable for listening on it's own.

Adam F - Drum And Bass Warfare - 06-Mar-03 11:50 AM
This drum n bass mix is probably one of the best that uses hip hop vocals over every track. I find that most times when drum n bass djs mix rap over their beats, it doesn't seem to blend well with the music. It's obvious that the lyrics were not written with the song, and it rarely speaks as loudly as the dnb by itself...That makes it hard for me to respect the mix. It takes a good dj to mix quality hip hop lyrics over beats that are willing to go 50/50 with the vocals. Nice work Adam F.
