Freez-E-Style / Pilldriver - Protectors Of Bass - 25-Oct-05 07:12 PM
Pitch-Hiker aka 'The Bassdrum track" is a pcp dancefloor classic. Its a very simple track - just a relentless 4-to-the-floor modulated 909 kickdrum. I've never seen this track fail to get heads nodding and the dancefloor going. The simple beat and 909 sound are both infectious and irresistible. This track is very pure techno. The Cold Rush labels all have the words "Music For Huge Space Arenas" on them - I can't think of a better example of that than Pitch-Hiker.

DJ Hidden / Slacknote / Kid Kryptic - Fear 003 - 24-May-05 01:23 PM
The first track on this by DJ Hidden is an absolute gem. Starts off downtempo, eerie, quiet even. Stays that way for a little longer than usual in D tracks, almost so long your think its a different kind of track. Then the distorted piercing bassline hits you like a 'diamond bullet in the forhead'. The drum/percussion changes come often and varied enough to keep things interesting till the end.

It is rare these days that I hear a track that elicits an involuntary gut-wrenching rush from me when completely sober but this is one of them. The other tracks are quite passable D although a little formulaic and nothing to write home about. Get this record just for the first track, it is, in a word - awesome.
