Basement Jaxx - Scars - 22-Oct-09 11:14 PM
Well its been a while. From RED ALERT to ROMEO to RIGHT HERES THE SPOT to RUN 4 COVER now to RAINDROPS, their latest album will blow you away, whether your a hip hop hipster, house junkie, pop diva, or alternative freak, this album brings many new things to the music industry. Anyone who has been a fan of Basement Jaxx form the beginning knows them to be more Hip Hop/House oriented. But with this latest installment we find that they have broadened their scope. Things are gained and things are lost. For example, in this album are the traditional hip hop/house tracks but with new songs mixing pop, alternative, and world. You get some surprising guest artists that will blow you away. You lose in this album the famous interludes, but you really dont mind it. The album art has to the most unique, strange, yet, truly descriptive of the album: a collaboration. The two new singles from this album are RAINDROPS and FEELINGS GONE. RAINDROPS is the first song ever to have a member of Basement Jaxx sing lead vocals and it is amazing and so is the music video. FEELINGS GONE however is a more pop directed song whose video is a shame. This album could go down as their best if not second to Rooty.
Daft Punk - Daft Club - 03-May-09 06:33 PM
Theres the good, the bad, and daft club. I have always hated remixes because most of them destroy the original. It seems to be the case for some of this album.
Overture Pretty good intro, reminds me of the horrors of AOL
Aerodynamic (Daft Punk Remix) Really cool how it mixes Aerodynamic with One More Time at the beginning! But afterwards does a straight run through Aerodynamic
Harder Better Faster Stronger (The Neptunes Remix) An interesting version, definitely worth checking out
Face To Face (Cosmo Vitelli Remix) A rather mediocre version of a good song
Phoenix (Basement Jaxx Remix) Contains almost nothing from the orignal. One of the worst on the CD
Digital Love (Boris Dlugosh Remix) One of the cheapest things ive ever heard. Its pretty much the same as the original
Harder Better Faster Stronger (Jess & Crabbe Remix) This is what remixing is all about. Great
Face To Face (Demon Remix) Better than Cosmo but not the original
Crescendolls (Laidback Luke Remix) One of my favorite Remixes. Totally different feel than the original but still fun.
Aerodynamic (Slum Village Remix) Very cool rap song. Most interesting remix.
Too Long (Gonzales Version) Sounds more like Elton John. Pretty sad
Aerodynamite From the Aerodynamic single. Pretty good
One More Time (Romanthonys Unplugged) WTF? Sounds like Romanthony had too many drinks. The worst thing on the album
Something About Us (Love Theme From Interstella 5555) Another cheap track. They just chopped off the intro and the ending.
This is a mediocre album if that. Even with all the cheap awful tracks on here there are still a few golden songs. Worth checking out. 6/10
Daft Punk - Human After All -Remixes- Limited Edition - 03-May-09 02:10 AM
People who hated Daft Club, wipe your tears: The Funk Is Back! In this new remix album you get some of the best remixes from Soulwax, Vitalic, Digitalism, even Justice!
Robot Rock (Soulwax Remix) Dare I say this is better than the original? Its pretty close
Human After All (Sebastian Remix) Pretty good remix, couldve done better
Technologic (Peaches No Logic Remix) No Logic is right, the low point of the album
The Brainwasher (Erol Alkans Horrorhouse Dub) Spooooooky
Prime Time Of Your Life (Para One Remix) Great Remix, So good Daft Punk used it in their Live Show!
Human After All (Guy-Man After All Justice Remix) Two great artists clash, One of the best remixes ever!
Technologic (Digitalism Remix) Not much to say, good remix
Human After All (Alter Ego Remix) Contains nothing from the song: is it really a remix?
Technologic (Vitalic Remix) Simply great remix. Just what you want
Robot Rock (Daft Punk Maximum Overdrive Mix) Crazy fast, kinda cheap but good nonetheless
More good stuff than Daft Club but still low points Overall an 8.5/10
Boston - Third Stage - 05-Mar-09 10:04 PM
Who hasnt heard of Boston. 70s 80s supergroup. Everyone knows of the bands world famous number one hit "More Than A Feeling" but what after that, an album with two good songs and a big let down. Second album, crap. Six long years past, then Boston emerged again with their ground breaking album Third Stage. What is most recognizable about this album is how all the tracks blend together. The whole album could be one track. With great tracks like "Amanda""Were Ready""Cool The Engines""Hollyann", all of the tracks are winners. This album is a bit on the short side, but this album is known as one of the few in the world with no fillers, no last minute tracks, this album represents the last of great rock albums, setting the standard that few have reached.
Dethklok - The Dethalbum - 21-Jan-09 09:42 PM
I love the show. Personally I hate metal, but this album brings me back to all those hilarious moments of the series. 18 dollars for a picture disc...Sounds good to me. Some lyrics are silly and not metal, but songs like "Go Into The Water" and "Fansong" will have you headbanging all night long. I would not recommend this to actual metal fans. This album has been called a "mockery" of real metal, huh, whatever.
