Timewriter, The - Paintbox Jan 16, 2006 (edited over 3 years ago)
What a dissapointment. It's been over three years since the release of Diary, a masterpiece album, and I was so excited to hear that Timewriter had another full length out. My excitement was pretty much crushed after the first listen. This album alternates between cheesey, club house and even cheesier layered trance music - with ridiculous vocal snippets. It doesn't even come close to the amazing deepness and lush production work of his previous albums. It's almost like JFC has been doing nothing but eating pills for the past three years and lost his soul in the process. If I were you, I would treasure your Diary and Jigsaw albums and try to forget this lame venture ever took place.

This album is amazing - and totally slept on. The tracks are smooth, solid, and really deep. Great summertime music - lush and vibrant. Here's hoping they make another album.

Driftwood is a small but wonderful label which has released some very nice dubby deep-house tracks. The label is owned by Terry Lee Brown Jr. and The Timewriter, who have produced most of the label's releases under various guises. I made a point of collecting all 9 of these records, and hopefully there will be some more on the way. Notable jems are Da Kine's 'Samoa', Drainpipe's 'New Life', and Jeremy's 'So Peaceful'. The last release (009) from Ronin is a deep-house masterpiece.
